If I could visit any country in the world I would visit France, and not just Paris. To this day, France is a very cultural country and still contains so much historical art and architecture. I took French in high school for two years in attempt to learn the language before I came to Clark. It is a pretty language, but is so hard to learn! My French teacher studied the language for six years herself, and said learned from living in Paris for one years than what she learned in high school. French class is the reason why I know what France has and looks like because we did a lot of projects to study the culture along with the language. Many people think the one landmark to visit in France is the Eiffel Tower. Although I hear the view is amazing …show more content…
The purest form of French is spoken there, and although it would be hard for me to understand, I think it would be the most helpful place for a former French students to help sharpen up my language skills. Loire is also a gorgeous city, with tall village-like house and cottages, castles, and hundreds of fields and vineyards to walk through and relax at. I would also like to take a few weeks or months and live in a village in Loire or in an apartment in Paris. In France, it is not very common to own a car. People get around by walking to the local markets in their neighborhoods every day or by a bus. I think that is a nice way to enjoy the view of the city and get some fresh air every day. I would also go to a café every day and eat a bunch of yummy French food like macaroons, baguettes, crepes, croissants, and tartines and eat every single cheese there is in France because I love cheese! I would also like to take the time to walk around different neighborhoods and cities of France each day just to walk on the streets and walk through a park instead of seeing a landmark every day. I like how people in France still take the time to do that, to just walk around and visit a park. Here in the U.S., we only leave our home if we need to be somewhere like work or school. It could be because nobody likes to walk around in the rain, but I personally love it and find it refreshing. I would love to do that in a

Compared to other countries, France’s economy is the fourth largest in the world. France is a very industrialized nation, yet it has kept some of the cultural characteristics that contribute to its old-world charm. The economy is “exceptionally diversified” (“Economic Structure”, 1). It produces everything from aircrafts to pharmaceuticals.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been mesmerized by all things French; their language, cuisine, and their distinctly chic simplicity speak to me in ways very few other things can. My dreams of experiencing these exoticisms first-hand have always seemed distant and unreachable due to my relentlessly tight budget, until now. With the help of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, I hope to overcome my financial encumbrances and spend a semester abroad amongst the people who have inspired me all my life.
Ask yourself “if I could take a trip ANYWHERE where would I go” well, I asked myself the same question where would I go? Here is my answer, I would go to the Bahamas because I think that I need to try something new. I think that if I went to the Bahamas then i would try everything because i am very deprived as in i don’t take advantage of the things i could be doing.
First off, New Orleans, a lively place that no one would want to miss, can only be experienced with my own eyes. Culture is what New Orleans live for and culture is what I thrive for. This city is stuffed with an abundance of heritage that creates a vessel of life and turns it into what we know about New Orleans today. To be able to see all of the influences from the French and the Africans, or any other nationality would be an interesting experience. There is a whole bundle of different foods that have their own unique appearances and tastes that is only local to New Orleans, and I would love to taste every single thing there if I were
