Reality TV: Keeping Up With The Kardashians

I am doing my writing assignment on the reality tv show Keeping up with the Kardashians, the episode I chose was “Kim turns into a diva”. I watched the episode on tv and re watched it online to get the information I needed. In this episode Kim is viewed as a diva because she slowly starts acting more and more like a diva. She goes as far as to gloat about being the top google and AOL search on the internet. The more she starts becoming a diva the more her sisters Khloe and Kourtney make fun of her. Khloe continuously tells Kim she is full of herself and up her own ass. Overall I was able to find a situation for each of the categories I will present an interaction where Kourtney finds messages on Scott’s phone, the social construction of reality

“I want you to come with me he needs to explain yourself to you guys” (Dailymotion.com). Khloe does not want to but since Kourtney asks her to do so for moral support and so Scott can explain himself to them as well Khloe agrees and goes with Kourtney on her date. Kim later calls and joins them Kourtney takes her sisters for support and so they can hear him out. This is an example of The Social Construction of Reality because her sisters had never done that before and Kourtney convinced them to go. During the interaction Khloe does not go easy on Scott she is not having anything of what Scott is saying. She thinks he is a cheater and a liar and she believes it’s best if Kourtney breaks up with Scott. Scott tries to explain himself and Khloe does not really let him explain himself too well she wants to hear answers from him and she wants the truth. Scott does not really do a good job of explaining himself he excuses himself for a brief moment and goes to the bathroom. Khloe says she needs to go to the bathroom as well and tells Scott that if he “When he hurts Kourtney he hurts her as well she also tells him that if he fucks Kourtney over once and she’s fine with that then that’s her problem but if he fucks her over twice then she will cut his balls off” (Dailymotion.com). An example would be when Kim is gloating “I was the number one google search last week, and yesterday I was the top AOL search for the whole week” (Keeping up with the Kardashians tv show). There is another case where Kourtney makes fun of Kim and tells her “did you know you were the top 2 in the dumbest people list from the New York post” (Keeping up with the Kardashians Tv show). Kim does not care about the fact she responds by saying so long as they are talking about her. Kim seems to care a lot about her social status she wants her name on the social network everywhere and she does not care what it’s for. On the other hand she has shown to care what people think about her physically. She believes she needs to look and be perfect at all times as is shown in the tv series when Khloe spins her on a couch she throws a fit because her make-up was running down her face and leaves the living room. Khloe continuously makes fun and criticizes Kim telling her she is so full of herself and up her own ass. As the conversation continues Kim asks if there is going to be someone at her photoshoot tomorrow to give her a manicure. Khloe then makes fun of her and says “I have a photoshoot tomorrow, I need a golden egg daddy, daddy I want it now: (dailymotion.com). Ultimately Kim is showing that she worries too much about her image and popularity status on the media. Kim presents herself
