Before this class as a reader I was less confident on my reading skills and I was also a slower reader. When I read the books I didn’t have any fluency that I had when I started reading. This class has helped me to learned asking questions and visualize. This improved my reading skills and had more confident of reading a book. Two of the reading strategies I have learned this year are asking questions and visualizing. Throughout this year I have been asking questions a lot while I’m reading. This class helps me to ask questions a lot. Asking questions is when you ask questions before reading the books and when you’re stuck you can ask questions. Asking questions helps me to get better at reading. This is important because i understand the book when I ask a lot of questions. Another reading skills that I have learned is visualizing. Visualizing is what the text says and have a form of image while reading. This changes occured because my effort on articles of the week has gotten better. When the school started I didn’t know how to do the articles of the week. As the school keeps going my effort on the articles of the week is getting better at it . And I know how to do it easily. Another reasons that changed is my fluency activities. As I started reading the articles my fluency skills is slow so that I have to make sure that I don’t misses any words or skipping it. I learned the importance of reading in university, and I want to continue reading more at the time I reach my other university classes or simply read more books during my holiday as I developed an interest in reading books and knowing more about certain topics.

The book makes me understand the importance of reading and know how weak I’m in reading comprehension. Not only is my reading speed slow, but also my thoughts after reading are immature. I haven’t fix some time to read English books before so my background knowledge and vocabulary are far from abundant.
I find it easier expressing myself through words and understanding other individual 's thoughts and actions through speech and writing. By studying a piece of text I am able to retrieve a lot of relevant information from it, I find this an easy way to learn because I reflect back by making notes so I am able to look back on notes for situations such as assignments and revision for exams. This is why I find reading techniques such as skim and scan reading difficult because I need to read a piece of text, highlight the important information and make notes to ensure that I have gained a good understanding. I could possibly improve an approach for my reading by looking at step by step guides to skim and scan reading online. This could help for large amounts of reading which I have to read quickly in seminars and lectures and to draw only the important information
Reading is not just reading words on a paper. It is a process that uses many resources in the brain and the use of strategies. Teachers have to use all six areas of reading to help students learn how to read, what strategies to use when reading, how to interpret a text and many more. There are many articles on reading and strategies for teaching reading and reading skills to younger students, while at the same time there is a strong need for this information for adults and those who are in or entering college. Such skills impact each other, as the ability of a student to decode words will be influenced directly by their familiarity with letter sounds. There are several decoding skills such as reading by analogy, phonetic, morphemic, and syllabic analysis that a good reader employs when decoding text.
