My first reaction to Tim Tebow’s book, Shaken, was that Tim Tebow has been through a lot of turbulent times throughout his life and career. However, he still stands firm in his faith. No matter how many times he lost, got dropped from a team, or he missed his receiver, he remained confident that God was on His side and always had a plan. Tim Tebow is a man of strong faith that has changed many lives during his career. Whether he was winning the Heisman Trophy, playing for the Broncos, or at home working out with the hopes of signing with another team, he was always contributing to others around him. Through his foundation or the spot light put on him by the media, he was always spreading God’s message. Though Tebow looks like he has had a
good life, it always has not been that great for him. First, he was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Philadelphia Eagles. To us, this may not seem so bad, however, Tebow felt betrayed by his former team. Even though Tebow felt this way, he remained positive. He maintained a strong work ethic and did his best to keep a position on the team. After a few games, the Eagles felt that Tebow was not the right fit for them; so he was released by the organization. Tebow found himself at a stand still in his career, until the New England Patriots picked him up for a pre-season. He got so close to making the team. Just when Tebow felt the most comfortable, Coach Bill Belichick brought him in for a one-on-one and dismissed him from the team. Tebow was shocked. Though most would doubt their faith and question God’s faithfulness. Tebow remained steadfast in his faith. He knew and preached that God had a plan for you to be there and overcome whatever obstacle is in the way, no matter how big the problem may seem. This part of Tebow’s career was very hard for him. He could not decide whether to pursue football or move on to other things. He was at stand still in his life. He found himself doing the only thing he knew to do: pray. He trusted God even after the terrible things that he had been through. He has inspired thousands with his example to stay with God even through the bad.
Ever since that day he has been a quarterback after his dad put him as one, and scored 4
The first thing someone would notice about Pat Tillman was not his size or athletic ability; it was his devotion to everything he loved, be it his family, friends, sport, country, or virtues. Being raised by a family with a history of what the author called “alpha maleness,” shaped his understanding of right and wrong, his ideas of how to earn glory and ...
Charley Johnson has had a wonderful career and an interesting life. Topics to prove so include his early life, his college football career, his NFL career, his army career, and his education. He is very inspirational as a person. He encourages people to follow their dreams. He has said the quote, “They say don't believe your own hype, but if you don't why would anyone else? To be great you have to believe you can do great things.” He proves that anyone can do great things, and can do multiple great things at the same
Tim Tebow was called a “miracle baby” because his parents were told he had to be aborted for his mom to live. Through that time his family prayed to God for a miracle. God protected Tim and on August 14, 1987 he was born. He was raised in a Christian home in the Philippines, where his parents told him “God has a special plan for your life” (Tebow). When Tim was three years old his family moved back to the United States. Tim homeschooled up until high school, but played football for Nease High School in Ponte Vendra. He attended college at the University of Florida from 2006-2009. He
Brett Favre grew up idolizing a pair of Southern quarterbacks, the Saints' Archie Manning and the Cowboys' Staubach. He grew up in Kiln, Mississippi and went to high school in there. His high school, Hancock North Central, honored him this past May by re-naming the field, 'Brett Favre Field,' and unveiling a life-sized statue of the quarterback at the stadium's entrance. The school previously had retired his jersey, Number 10, in 1993. He stayed in the south to go to college where he went to Southern Miss. He became the starter at Southern Miss in his third game of his freshman season. Favre majored in special education. He led his Southern Mississippi team to 29 victories, including two bowl victories, during his four varsity seasons, 1987-90, and climaxed his collegiate career by earning a MVP award in the East-West Shrine game featuring the nation's best seniors. Favre set school records for passing yards (8,193), pass attempts (1,234), completions (656), completion percentage (53.2), touchdowns (55), and with only 35 interceptions. His production included five 300-yard passing games and five 3-TD performances, while his 7,695 regular-season passing yards ranked him among the top 30 of all-time NCAA passers. His 1.57 interception ratio in 1988 was the lowest among the 50 top-ranked passers in the nation, and his 2.9 interception rate for his four-year career also ranks as one of the best in NCAA history. Also he was the MVP of the All-American Bowl at the conclusion of his senior year. All those records and stats and that was only in college!!!
From September 11, 1924 (Moritz 270), through the late 1960’s, Tom Landry accomplished a lot of things in his life, and set new trends for many years to come. Whether it be high school football star, or flying combat missions with the United States Air Force. Whether it be playing collegiate football, and really excelling, or actually moving on to a professional football career. Whether it be transforming from player to coach, and leading way for years to come and different programs; Tom Landry had experienced it all. Tom Landry was a great coach and player, whose leadership made him a hero, and a prestigious name in the football world.
book remains a true testimony to the resilience of the human mind, body, and spirit.
...orts. He set firsts for some things and re-iterated others. He is still a very large contributing influence in the football world today. He is currently a NFL analyzer. He is very smart and knowledgeable. But he didn't get to where he is now without struggle. Power and fame almost ruined him. Yet he was able to bounce back and use his experience to learn from and shape his future and create a positive outcome. He made it positive not only for himself but for others as well. He set his goals and was determined. One thing
An athlete’s college career is something seldom used when determining the best players at each position to play professional football. To seriously distinguish between whether Manning or Brady is the best quarterback of their generation their college careers must be carefully examined. Manning, a farm-boy, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 24, 1976 ("Peyton Manning Career Biography and Statistics | SportHaven.com"). His father attended Ole Miss, where he is very well known, but Peyton, when making his decision chose to attend the hated University of Tennessee. As a Tennessee Vol, Peyton Manning, not only set records, but also posted astronomical numbers. He won his first start as quarterback, 10-9 against Washington State, and lead the team t...
Tim Thomas decided to drastically change his life by giving everything he has to seven people, in order to save or improve their life in order to “make up” for the seven lives that were lost as a result of his carelessness. He gave a part of his lungs to his brother, a piece of his liver to a social worker, a kidney to a hockey coach, his home to a mother of two children but there were still two more that he needed to help. So he took his brothers IRS credentials and found Emily who was in need of a heart and Ezra who needed two eyes. He determined that both were good and deserving people that were worthy of the gift so he committed suicide in order to enhance their quality of life.
The quarterback (QB) is the undisputed on-field leader of a football team. As such, it is the QB that the team and the fans turn to with the game on the line. Some QB’s embrace the challenge and excel, others falter and fall on their faces. Joe Montana was a QB who embraced those moments and not only excelled, but excelled above all others.
However, what is not clear is his stance on sin and holiness. While he strongly bases his thinking and actions on the teaching of Christianity, some of his actions warrant the questioning of his divinity. Despite being an answered prayer, he commits adultery and kills. However, he manages to inspire hope by saving the people from their oppressors and making their lives better. This is an excellent characterization of the American outlaw prophet, who comes in with faith and leaves everything much better, despite the questioning of his
...y would argue that no other quarterback will be able to ever match his level of success. Even though he was interested in other sports as a young boy, it is crystal clear that he was supposed to play football. At six feet five inches and 230 pounds, we can assume that he would be a formidable opponent in any sport; but looks don't count. Actions are what count, and Peyton has certainly delivered in that department.
What truly is amazing is the person Tim Tebow represents off the field. He is a devout Christian who works to spread his religion and give hope to those in need. Tebow has been involved with controversy that started in his days in high school, due to a law in Florida that allowed him to pick his high school. Tebow is possibly the only player to be under national scrutiny from his high school playing days through his career in the NFL both on and off the field. Most of this controversy is because of his faith and how he displayed it on field. The best way to describe him is to say that he is a polarizing person and player in the sense that people either love or hate him. Tim Tebow is, indeed, a great person and role model on the playing field as well as off of it.
It is clear to us that Boone did in fact face a challenge that he overcame. He wanted to be accepted by the community by proving that he was a valued member of it, a valuable football coach. In order to do this he had to prove that he could coach The Titans through all of their games, this required team unity. He gained the respect and acceptance of the football players in order to encourage their unity. He knew that only through their unity could they succeed. It is not the mere challenge that Boone faced that gained merit; it was what he succeeded in doing that was the real important achievement, succeeding to prove to the community that they could indeed be united.
