Every human has different emotions and feelings about someone or something. We might be sad or happy. We also have different opinions like the protagonist, Squeaky, in the story “Raymond's Run” by Toni Cade Bambara. In the story Squeaky is protecting her older brother because he acts differently. She also explains what is going on in her life and she introduces the people that she dislikes. For example, her mother wants her to be a bit more girly. In the story, Squeaky is very confident. In this scene, she thinks about how fast she is and describes her improvement in running. She remembers how in kindergarten, she used to run the 20 yard dash while now she is running the 50 yard dash. Squeaky mentally prepares for the race by being confident.
