Aviation is one of the largest growing industries internationally; there are over 100 careers available in numerous different sectors. There are jobs at airlines, airports, government, corporate and business aviation, fixed base operators and aircraft manufacturing. In each of these aviation industry sectors each have there own different and unique jobs (Aviation careers). All of this aviation industry sectors work together to make a smooth running machine, if one of these sectors fails then the whole aviation industry could take a large hit economically (Farinella, 2011).
Aviation security is an extremely important part of the aviation industry. Although many people wish that there were no need for aviation security, in the world we live in today there is no greater time need for a strong aviation security workforce. Every different sector of aviation has it's own security careers. Airlines security is taken very seriously. Travelers have to go through government security checkpoints before they can board aircraft. Airlines hire security personnel to train their pilots and crews on how to handle any threats that may appear while in flight. The sector of the aviation industry that offers the most aviation security positions is the government. The Department of Homeland Security, the Transportation Security Agency and Customs and Border Patrol all offer a large number of positions (Farinella, 2011). Airport security manager is one of the most promising careers in the aviation industry. Airport security managers have to be in charge of all airport police, they will also need to know have a vast knowledge of contracts with government agencies. The aviation industry is growing every year, with NextGen and many other programs being implemented by 2020 ("Nextgen," 2014). The new programs will make everything that has to do with aircraft and airport more efficient. All the new programs being implemented will also open up many new jobs. The aviation industry is considered a system of system, there are hundreds of different industries that support and make the aviation industry possible ("Nextgen," 2014).There are many important jobs, but one of the most important careers available in the aviation industry is security. If the security personnel was not doing there job of checking aircraft, airports and passengers it would leave the traveling public in harm’s way. All of the different careers in aviation industry work together to make a safe and efficient way to travel.
