Hello there Mr. President I am Alexus. I’ve heard you’re looking for ideas for a new television series. Well in that case I have a few ideas to elaborate to you. My show is basically a comedy, music, and game show all in one. Exciting right? How amazing does that sound? The title of my show would be “Rap Stars.” Why Rap Stars you ask? I chose it because the show is filled with rap stars. It’s kind of like a questionnaire type of show. The rap stars would be asked questions about other artists. Then, from there they would have to answer the question given. I guess you’re wondering how it would catch people’s attention? The most appealing part would be the audience seeing their favorite rappers. They would see them on live television or be
in the live audience. You would see rappers such as Future, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, and so on. The show is somewhat relative to “Are You Smarter than a 5th grader.” The stars would have a choice of 4 possible answer choices. On a typical episode there would be 5 stars behind big buzzers. Whenever a question about another star is asked they click the buzzer. Then, they answer the question from 4 different choices. If they answer incorrectly they spin the wheel to get their punishment. The punishments are things such as dunk tanks, pie in the face, etc. If answered correctly they get a point the game ends once someone reaches 10 pts. To conclude, my ideas would be perfect for a television show. It would get a lot of teen’s attention. Teens may also be able to vote on who’s going to star on the next show. Please consider my wonderful idea. I hope you would enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed coming up with the idea. Sincerely, Alexus Lykes
A dominant rhetorical strategy presented by the author was his use of formal tone which made his article more official. The author explains his point of view in how banning words in music such as hip-hop and rap would be beneficial using strict arguments. Also, the author detached himself from the article and did not use the first or second point of view. In addition, in paragraph 9 the author wrote “it would” as an alternative of “It’d”, in paragraph 10 “that is” as a replacement for “that’s”, and in paragraph 11 “it is” rather than “it’s”, which concludes that he used full words and did not simplify or use contractions in most of his words. He also spelled out the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People when he wrote
“Land of the free and the home of the brave.” This line has represented the United States for decades. These words were captured in The Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key and since 1913, the United States has adopted The Star-Spangled Banner as its national anthem. We have used the Red, White, and Blue as one of our nation’s symbols. It has fifty stars, to represent the number of states we have in our Union. The military pledges its allegiance to the flag and the country which it represents at all costs. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave, and we are proud to show it.
Elvis Presley changed the music world as they knew it back in the 50’s he came out with a wild new style unlike any other. Even to this day if you hear Elvis’ name you automatically think of his signature style or as the king of rock and roll. Hound Dog was controversial for it’s time and made extra controversial by Elvis’ moves and how the ladies would swoon and storm the stage to see him. Presley was so ahead of his time that most adults didn’t because of his so-called vulgar ways but the younger generation went crazy for Elvis and his new style of blues meets country hence creating rock and becoming the king.
Come Wednesday night a legendary career will come to an end as Kobe Bryant plays his last game in the NBA. Since Early December the end when Kobe Bryant announced his retirement, many have been flocking to see Kobe play for one last time while other stars try to meet with him. Usually when players retire they’ll go off and do something else and we’ve heard a number of things that Kobe could do once he hangs his sneakers up. We know Kobe has his own business that he’ll likely focus on and some want him to join the NBA on TNT crew, but Bryant has no interest in the broadcasting route. Many of us would love to see Mamba coach but that’s something he doesn’t have any interest in doing either. When it’s all set and done what could we see Kobe do? Well here’s a wild card and it’s something
On August 28th, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. gave one of the most notable speeches in American history, at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. King started off his famous “I Have a Dream” speech by stating the impact it would have on America’s civil rights movement: “I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation” (King 1). With knowledge of rhetoric and persuasion, King had a substantial impact on the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr.’s use of ethos, pathos, and logos appeals enable King to persuade the audience to achieve equality.
Music and what lyrics are placed in songs has had a lot of influence over my emotions not only when I listen to the song but when I think about the event that goes with that song. In this day and age music and media have more power to manipulate young minds than it did only a generation ago. The songs that people say are deep and meaningful are usually those that are easy to connect with. The six songs you have listened to are songs most people do not understand until they analyze the meanings of them. My own mother in fact does not like the music I listen to just because of the language and because she tends to see things as they are instead of the feelings and motivations poured into something.
Abstract- We are going to clean up the bars and restaurants of licking county, but we need your help to do it. Many bars and restaurants don 't recycle, getting them to recycle would make a huge difference in the community. As the reader take a minute to think of all the drinks that you have had at a restaurant or barn now think of all the drinks they are selling in the bars and restaurants and how much of a difference would be made if they were to recycle all of those bottles. We are going to get them to be apart of the R&B Recycling Race. Be apart of the solution, not the problem.
Rap is about giving voice to a black community otherwise underrepresented, if not silent, in the mass media. It has always been and remains … directly connected to the streets from which it came. (144)
On your free time, what do you do you like to do? On my free time, I love to listen to music. I listen to all types of music, whether it’s Pop, R&B or Hip-Hop. But my favorite artist to listen to is Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper and songwriter that was born in 1987 and raised in Compton, California. He is signed to the record labels Top Dawg Entertainment and Aftermath, the latter of which was founded by Dr. Dre. I know what you’re probably thinking. Hearing that he is from Compton and that he’s a rapper makes you think that he raps about money, cars and hoes but that isn’t the case. He has been called by many a genius and the most influential person of the new generation. Frankly I agree.
The United States of America is known as the nation of freedom, a place to make dreams come true, and where equal rights are followed. However, our education in history shows a different perspective. The citizens have had a complicated time convincing the mind of Congress on modifying the rights of the people. Before, women could not vote to choose the future of America, yet after many marches, the women who rose up to speak with great fervor accomplished their goal of making it possible for women to vote. The Presidential Election is a time for people to vote for the leader of the country. As I turn 18 yrs old, I have the opportunity to vote for this country’s future. What led me to the desire of voting was hearing Donald Trump’s negative
Persuasion is a commonly used communication technique that allows us to socially influence a certain topic positively or negatively. Its purpose is to help affirm or nullify an idea, belief or attitude. Sometimes the exact topic is very detectable in communication such as during debates but other times it displayed a little more subtly. Persuasion is more than just verbally speaking. Non-verbal communication such as body language, tone and pitch of the voice can also add to the affirmation of the topic. The setting and location also help encourage the acceptance of what is being persuaded.
Hip-Hop/Rap is one of the biggest growing genres of today. From its early stages in the 1970’s to today’s pop culture, it has grown quite a lot. Unfortunately, it has developed a terrible reputation of drugs, violence, abuse, and gangs. When people associate Hip-Hop with things it is usually a negative image that comes to the person’s mind. Which is sad, Hip-Hop/Rap has a great artistic quality to them that gets so easily overlooked. There is true poetry and emotion behind these lyrics and beats, but not everyone is willing to sit down and listen to it. They quickly judge this music genre and the immediately dislike it without giving it a second thought. Rappers pour their emotions and their souls into their songs and it really speaks to people who would stop and listen to them. Hip-Hop/Rap has evolved over time. From the early stages of Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, and others to today’s rap stars like Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. Each decades style is different but each style is still good. What really made Rap huge was the Sugarhill Gang’s own song called “Rapper’s Delight” the entire song is around 15 minutes long with just three emcee’s rapping, Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank, and Master G. An emcee is another word for a rapper. Most emcees are the head of whatever event is being taken place, kind of like people that do skits in a talent show to introduce the next act. Hip-Hop/Rap today is filled with emcees and rappers. Today we find a more complex and more diverse style than what we would find back in the 70’s. There are different styles to different rappers. Each one unique in its own way and it makes that rapper stand out compared to everybody else. Also, another thing today that is different from the past is the flow of a rapp...
In this song, Macklemore expresses the importance of race and how white privilege affects people in different ways. Because Macklemore and other white people accept the fact that white privilege benefits them, it is difficult for them to speak about racial issues and discrimination. Many whites tend to have a sporadically feeling of unspoken guilt. The “White Privilege II”, shares the perspective of white people who’re acclimated with the black movements while also addressing the racial issues within our society and encouraging both races to work together in order to eliminate them. Macklemore’s tone impacts the way the listeners receive his perspective.
Today 's rap music reflects its origin in the hip-hop culture of young, urban, working-class African-Americans, its roots in the African oral tradition, its function as the voice of an otherwise underrepresented group, and, as its popularity has grown,
Hip- hop is a standout amongst the most compelling musical sorts on the globe. There are rappers everywhere that know what amount of an impact their music can have. Some entertainers attempt to utilize that force of impact to do great (Ruiz INT).
