Rock and Roll is a genre of popular music that originated in the United States of America during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Rock and Roll has really been in existence since the

Rap took longer than rock and roll to actually link different cultures and social classes together because it originated in a minority social class. To some people listening to rap was downgrading and vulgar, due to the slang and offensive language. However it was a huge movement for the black community as they expressed their feelings towards the way they were being treated. Later on there was a merge when Eminem came along, as he was a white man that also wanted to become a rapper.
Music can be reflection of our life experience. Each genre of music invokes different emotions and reactions in it's listeners. Rap has become a very popular genre in today's society. Rap’s Controversy The most popular new music to emerge from the ‘80’s was rap music. It first developed in the mid ‘70’s in New York City, and soon in other urban areas, primarily amongst African-American teenagers. It became very popular with the urban public and soon began to spread throughout the United States and much of the world. It replaced rock music as the creative force in music of the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. However, as popular as it was then and it is now, the lyrics of many rap songs have caused controversy.
Rap has been around since 1973, when Kool DJ Herc introduced this new mash of jazz, soul, gospel, and reggae. To begin with my role model is Rap Monster. His real name is Kim Namjoon. Rap Monster is his stage name {RM for short}. He once said “Too many stars, too many dreams. The reality is that in front of these things, I’m just a speck of dust”.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of rappers in the United States. If one scrolled through the list of all rappers in the US, he/she would not recognize more than, at the most, 10% of the names on the list. Why is that? Why are there so many names on the list, but many of their names are not familiar to the majority of people? This is because, they are not considered, “great.”

“Rap was born as a form of necessary speech. It provided young people, many of whom were from difficult and impoverished backgrounds with a voice and a means of vivid expression” (Gates, Henry). Describing exactly what rap music is depends on the person. To me it is a form of storytelling and a form of poetry in which artists would chant over rhythm their struggles and basically their perspective of this world or society. The lyrics are something that contain deep meaning that is made to point out a problem, it’s something that is not made just to sound good and catchy but to tell a story. Meanwhile, for others rap music is something that they don’t give a second chance. They are not willing to listen to the lyrics in context; they are biased and say that rap music is inadequate. They find rap music to be aggressive and unmelodic. I guess everyone has their own liking in the kind of music they listen too. It’s a good thing because if everyone was exactly the same with the same taste in music, then there would be one song in the world which would be very boring and dull. Like any genre of music, rap music is a genre that takes time to hold in high regard. If one were to compare jazz music to rap music, I would say that most people don’t like to listen to jazz music because it requires the person to listen to detail and it requires repeated exposure. Meanwhile rap music is idiosyncratic because it
