Ranger’s Apprentice: Ruins of Gorlan is about a 15 year old boy named Will who dreams to be a knight like his father once was. Eventually, “Choosing Day” comes where the Craftmasters choose their apprentices. Will requested to become a knight, but was quickly rejected. Will was later accepted by Halt, who was a Ranger. But Will didn’t know a single thing about Rangers, but he later discovers that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom, they fight the battle before they reach the people. Will begins to fulfill his new legacy as his story begins to unfold. I honestly think that this book was great! The characters seemed to have a lot of emotion and personality, but there isn’t much of the other characters because the main focus was on
Will and Halt. The plot is great because there are many things that are brought up, but never answered. This really keeps the reader intrigued throughout the entire book. And lastly, the setting was pretty good, but not the best part of the book. A kingdom setting can be a bit overused, but they found a way to use it in a not-so-medieval way. I would recommend this book to a friend or anyone who is interested in Fantasy books. And I would rate this book an 9 out of 10. This is because the book did a really well done job with the characterization, plot, and setting. The characters felt like they had personalities and were not just there for no reason, the plot was very intriguing, and the setting actually felt sort-of fitting for the story. There are a lot of things that the book did really well like leaving some things a mystery and unanswered, but there are still a few things that the book is lacking that it could have done better. I overall thought this book was really good, and I think that people who like fantasy would think the same.
The book had a few characters that I liked, but a lot of characters that I disliked. For example Yasmine was a character that I disliked. I didn’t like her because she brought pain to Paige’s life. Yasmine and Paige were best friends for months in Sixth grade. They were constantly doing fun activities together, like having sleepovers or planning each other’s birthday parties, but all that was ruined by a mistake Yasmine made. Paige and Yasmine were at a school dance, when
Fans of the novel found that the way the novel is written, you never want to put it down and the action keeps things moving and is quite entertaining. The novel pulls you in and makes you love each of the main characters in it. This is a great series for anyone to read, and it is audience friendly for whoever reads them. There is quite a bit of suspense that will make the novel exceed readers 's expectations, and the twists and turns keeps you guessing and lets nothing be predictable. Some like the way this group of people bands together when they really need to and keep things together so they can all stop the
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
In my eyes I loved the book I rate it a 9/10, its had a good twist and turn to it. I loved this
Once I get past all of the rambling I did in the past paragraphs, I honestly really enjoyed the book. Though it wasn't like most of the other books I’ve read (meaning I didn't cry during the process of reading it), the characters were just as provokingly interesting as the characters in other stories, it was a little edgy and made me want to yell at it, shouting at Sam when she wouldn’t let Tyler play video games with Danny, or Danny when he called to have Sam and Tyler taken to a separate facility. Overall, this book opened me up to something that just isn't a romance novel. This story really shows that there are people with a lot of difficulties in their lives, and that’s what I liked the most about it.
story, the plot was good. The liked the purpose of the author and the way
Books nearly always have multiple themes, whether they’re evident or not. These themes can vary from being extremely evident to barely perceptible. In the novel, Ranger’s Apprentice, by John Flanagan, there are quite a few themes. In this book, a young orphan named Will is chosen to become an apprentice to one of the most elite of men in the country, Halt. He trains to become a ranger, learning to hone his skills in weaponry and remaining unseen. When the dark lord, Morgarath, attempts to take over, Will takes on a perilous journey to defeat a savage race of beast known as the kalkara that Morgarath set loose. Throughout the course of this novel, Will shows many admirable traits that enhance the obvious themes that Flanagan set in place.
My overall opinion of this book is good I really liked it and recommend it to anyone. It is a good book to read and it keep you interested throughout the whole book.
“You must forge your own path for it to mean anything.” - Rick Riordan, The lost hero is a fantastic fiction book written by Rick Riordan. This book is about a group of heroes who have to go on a quest to save Hera and stop Geae from rising and taking over. This is not the first book of the series there are a few books before this but this one starts when Jason wakes with no memory of his pasted life sitting next to a beautiful girl. He’s on a school bus full of kids his age. This girl he finds out that her names piper McLean Who is his girlfriend well that is what Leo Valdez says. The boy named Leo says he is Jason's best friend. The school bus was taking him and the rest of the kids who belong to the wilderness school to the Grand Canyon. Have you ever noticed how all heros have some similar characteristics or adventures? In The Hero’s Journey it talks about the characteristics that heroes share. These characteristics are The Separation, Initiation and Transformation, and The Return. Beowulf, written in 410-1066 by an anonymous person, is an old epic poem that tells the story about a hero named Beowulf that comes and helps Hrothgar and his Danes fight an evil, demonic monster named Grendel. Ironman, directed by Jon Favreau, is a newer movie that tells the adventure about the hero named Ironman. In this movie Iron Man protects New York City from an evil menace named Obadiah Stane. As the main ideas of Beowulf and Ironman already sound similar, their journeys are similar too.
I think my favorite thing about this novel was the realistic ending. Some books try to just give you a fairy tale but this book had an ending that mad you think in the end if I was in the same position would I do the same thing. I didn’t like the fact that the novel portrayed mental illness in a way to say that it needed to be hidden and protected. I thought this novel was very believable for the time period that it was set in. I think the ending to this novel was perfect it was an accurate ending to this
A new danger threatens the peace of a community. One brave hero takes it upon themselves to eliminate the threat and restore happiness among their people and become the master of themselves. Is this Jaws, Jurassic park, Godzilla, The Lion King, Spiderman, Harry Potter, or Beowulf, the Anglo-Saxon poem published in the eighth and 11th century? The truth is it is all of them. The heroes journey is the common template used by a broad category of tales that involve a protagonist hero who goes on an adventure, overcomes an ordeal, and comes back home rewarded and changed. Coraline, a 2009 American 3D stop motion dark fantasy horror film produced by Laika, follows much of the same template created almost 11 centuries ago.
The plot was immense, organized in a logical way, and kept you guessing. It was easy to understand what was going on since the events that occurred were so relatable. Crossan’s love for poetry was evident throughout the story. Every few chapters included a poem and I thought that this was a nice addition. There were a lot of depressing moments but overall the book was very well written, in my opinion. The characters were unique, although a few were stereotypical, such as Apple’s English teacher Mr.
I did enjoy this book and the series ended in a good fashion. It didn’t have a bad twist or some other kind of negative aspect too it. I did like that they put Kronos in it because he was the god of time in the story and could control time itself. He could pause and freeze time which is a cool ability. They didn’t have much about the titans in the other books so that was cool. The kids have to go on way too many different missions throughout the book and I feel like it was crazy how they were always gone somewhere. Other than that it was worthwhile reading and I enjoyed it.
I thought the book was awesome. I couldn't put it down from the moment I picked
