state of California, located roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the Central Coast. The population was 45,119 at the 2010 census.] The population of San Luis Obispo County was 269,637 in 2010. Founded in 1772 by Spanish Franciscan Junípero Serra, San Luis Obispo is one of California's oldest communities. Serra's original mission was named for the 13th-century saint and bishop Louis of Toulouse. The city, locally referred to as San Luis, SLO, or SLO Town (as its county is also referred to as SLO) is the county seat of San Luis Obispo County and is adjacent to California Polytechnic State University.San Luis Obispo experiences a cool Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification Csb). On average it has 50 days with measurable rain per year – mostly during winter months. Summers are generally warm and sunny, often with morning fog from the Pacific coast. Winters are generally mild, though below freezing lows may be expected four nights per year. Temperatures do, however, vary widely at any time of the year, with 80 °F (27 °C) readings in January and February not uncommon. Although heat extremes in the 110s have been recorded, the maritime moderation is generally strong due to the proximity to the cool ocean waters.San Luis Obispo is located on U.S. Route 101 about 31 miles (50 km) north of Santa Maria.According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.93 square
Mission San Juan Capistrano is a mission like no other. Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded in 1775 and in 1776. Serra’s Chapel was the first permanent building. It was made out of Adobe brick instead of wood. Local native Americans helped build the mission and hang the bells. The people worked for 8 days then stopped. They buried the mission. The people came back the next year to dig out and rebuild the mission. A neat fact about San Juan Capistrano is the brand of their livestock is the letters C,A and P twisted together. San Juan Capistrano is called the jewel of the missions. This unique mission is not an ordinary, everyday mission.
visitors had gathered to take a to tour of this beautiful mansion; then, the guide revealed
Reflecting the excesses of the Gilded Age, Vizcaya, named after a northern province in Spain, is often called the “Hearst Castle of the East.” With soaring ceilings, sinuous staircases, beautifully textured walls, and monumental columns, Vizcaya is no shrinking violet!
Resorts are expected to have hotel rooms that make their guest feel like they are at home. The Great Wolf Lodge goes “above and beyond” expectations in this area. The on-site hotel has 605 guest rooms. Each room comes with free WiFi, a private bathroom, mini refrigerator, a flat-screen television, a semi-private living area and a full size sleeper sofa ("Great Wolf Lodge"). Every room at this resort is a suite. A standard suite, with two queen size beds will sleep up to six people. This is because of the sleeper sofa that is included in every room. Not bad for a standard suite. If a standard suite is not big enough for you; no problem. The resort has four different kinds of “Theme Suites” that will sleep up to seven people. These suites include a queen or king sized bed with a “themed” area. For example, the “Kids Cabin” suite has an ...
Australia has the terrible condition of having an essentially pointless and prefabricated idea of “Aussiness” that really has no relation to our real culture or the way in which we really see ourselves. We, however subscribe to these stereotypes when trying to find some expression of our Australian identity. The feature film, The Castle, deals with issues about Australian identity in the 1990’s. The film uses techniques like camera shots, language and the use of narration to develop conflict between a decent, old fashioned suburban family, the Kerrigans and an unscrupulous corporation called Airlink. Feature films like The Castle are cultural products because they use attitudes, values and stereotypes about what it means to be Australian.
The house was built in 1917 by William Bowers Bourn, a San Francisco millionaire whose wealth came from gold mining . Construction of the large property took 2 years, while it took 12 years to build the formal gardens, which were completed in 1929. Its name was created by Bourn, using the first 2 letters from the key words of his credo: “Fight for a just cause; Love your fellow man; Live a good life.” After the deaths of Bourn and his wife in 1936, it was purchased by William Roth, another prominent San Franciscan, who pr...
The Castle, directed by Rob Sitch, is an Australian comedy, which delves into the lives of a stereotypical Australian family, the Kerrigans. The film touchs on issues close to home in a humourous way. The audience is introduced to the classic Aussie family, narrated in the viewpoint of the youngest of the Kerrigans, Dale.
The story pertaining to this castle I first heard in a coffee house on Capitol Hill, in Seattle, Washington. Capitol Hill is known for being the stomping grounds of a wide variety of people. There are bohemians, hippies, homeless people, drag queens, and lots of college students due to the fact that there are five colleges in the city of Seattle alone. It is also not so full of tourists, who spend more of their time at Pikes Place Market (also said to be haunted) and the Center. I spoke to the storyteller around two in the afternoon on Friday, March 23rd during my spring break. She works at a local hospital and is finishing up medical school. She is recently married, twenty-four years old, and she grew up in West Seattle. Her mom is Ukrainian and is the principal of an elementary school.
The case of King v. Burwell was based on an interpretation of the premium tax credits associated with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The suit claimed that only people participating in the state-run health care exchanges qualified for the tax credits according to the new health care statutes. Upon review by the United States Supreme Court, that claim and subsequent petition were rejected with the reason being that the case's understanding of the requirements for the premium tax credits was incorrect and the statute could stand as it is.
The novel We Have Always Lived in The Castle by Shirley Jackson is a very unique book. This is due to the very strange behavioral patterns from the two sisters, Merricat and Constance, in the poem. But what is the most unusual about the two sisters is their definitions of happiness. To see Merricat’s definition of happiness is best seen when she refers to the “moon” and under the same weekly routine schedule she has always been under since she her family was murdered. Constance’s definition of happiness clearly displayed when Charles comes to the house and when she starts embracing Merricat’s “moon” fantasy world. By looking at the two girls’ definition of happiness we can see what the girls truly need and want in order to be happy.
Queen Elizabeth had many different palaces, many workers for the palaces, and the many responsibilities of the workers. All the queen’s palaces were extremely ravishing with many embellishments inside the palaces. Lastly, the queen’s palaces had many interesting activities that took place in form entertainment in the palaces. Queen Elizabeth owned fifty houses and sixty castles in total but, "Elizabeth had 14 palaces in regular use at her disposal as well as numerous "stately homes" throughout England owned by noblemen and gentry.” Elizabeth owned Whitehall, the tower, Greenwich, St. James’s, Somerset house, the charterhouse, and Durham place. The night prior coronation, and Durham place was reserved for the ambassadors and guests (Olsen Para 1). Since Queen Elizabeth had many palaces and the palaces were magnificent and fascinating because the queens palaces were filled with many workers, the inside palace was spectacular, and there were many forms of entertainment.
The private residence built by newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst in San Simeon, California is quite a site to behold. Originally named La Cuesta Encantada it is now often referred to as Hearst Castle. It is located on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the Santa Lucia Mountains. The estate took 28 years to build and includes the main house, guest houses, two pools, and acres of gardens, terraces and walkways. Its rooms and gardens are decorated with an impressive collection of antiques from around the world. One particularly interesting building is the Roman Pool.
As was mentioned earlier, falling water and the biltmore each have very different styles of architecture. The biltmore possesses a chateauesque style mansion, which is a style of architecture style that is based on french renaissance architecture. Often times in this style of architecture, you see things like elaborate towers with highly pitched roofs. These style buildings are often built on asymmetrical planes with roof lines broken in many

There will be a deck facing the lake on the first and second floors of the house. The purpose of having the deck in that position is so anybody can go out there, relax, and watch all the people in boats go by. There will be double sliding glass doors leading out to the decks. There is an outside staircase leading up to the second floor.
