The world-class spa offerings, the dizzying list of fitness classes, the outstanding meals (often made from the resort’s own, massive organic garden) – these are just some of the reasons why Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico, is consistently ranked among the best places on the planet for a retreat. That’s no exaggeration. Located in Tecate, which is just across the United States’ southern border, in Mexico, Rancho La Puerta is a secluded resort full of winding trails, charming casitas and meadows that in springtime, are awash in wildflowers.
Getting to the ranch is about a one-hour journey from San Diego’s International Airport (the nearest airport.) The drive takes you through the rolling hills of Southern California and Northern Mexico. And once you arrive, the rest of the world seems to slip away. Most visitors visit for at least one week and rarely, if ever, leave the property during that time.
Days at Ranch La Puerta are spent engaging in hikes, cooking classes, spa treatments and the hourly fitness classes that begin early in the morning and last until evening. After dinner there’s often lectures from well-known intellectual leaders or luminaries, music or other engaging options. With so much to do, a week seems not nearly enough time.
Accommodations
The accommodations at Rancho La Puerta are made up of 86 charming, colorful garden casitas, that range in size and price. They are all nestled in the rolling hills and along the picturesque paths that weave throughout Rancho La Puerta’s property. Many have lovely patios that beg you to spend some time sitting and reading, or just enjoying the sounds of the woods and

nature. The smallest accommodations are the Ranchera Solos, which are studios with one bed designed for a single guest. Haciendas meanwhile have a private bedroom, as well as a sitting area and fireplace. Two-bedroom Villa Suites are something closer to a small vacation home then a hotel room and include living room, dining area, wet bars and fireplaces. No matter which size accommodation you select, they’re all decorated with Mexican folk art, hand-made furniture and tiles, vibrant weavings and more. Dining at Rancho La Puerta The food at Rancho La Puerta is fresh, healthy, and produced organically, free of toxic chemicals. It’s also delicious, sophisticated and a true treat at every meal. An important note however, no meat or poultry is served at the ranch, so if dining meat-free is challenging for you, it may be something to consider. In place of meat, or perhaps as an alternative, seafood is served four times each week for dinner and several times for lunch. The remainder of the menu here is a combination of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and more. You will never leave a meal hungry. And it’s more likely, you will depart the dining room pleasantly surprised and pondering how you might incorporate Rancho La Puerta’s healthy style of dining into your life back home. The Spa It’s hardly an exaggeration to say that the spa at Rancho La Puerta is ahead of its time.
Described as a place to renew your mind, body and spirit, the spa here is about far more than just fluffy facials and pedicures. Rancho La Puerta is constantly on the cutting edge of all that’s new and advantageous when it comes to well-being and spa therapies. Just recently the spa announced a variety of new energy healing treatments including Reiki, Reconnective Healing, Somatic Experiencing and Lifeline Technique (definitely not your typical spa fare.)
Some of the existing favorites here meanwhile, include hot stone massages, detox massages, four hand massages, herbal wraps and seaweed wraps. So many fabulous options, so little time right?
Often, the recommended approach for a weeklong stay is to start with cleansing treatments, fill mid-week with treatments that relax and restore, and then conclude your getaway with treatments designed to energize. Thus, you head back to the real world fully refreshed and renewed.
Fitness
Just as Rancho La Puerta has always been a leader in spa therapies, it has also become a place where fitness takes on all forms. Your first glance at the week’s fitness schedule can often been slightly overwhelming, not only because there are so many offerings, but also because many will probably be entirely new to you. It’s a chance to try things you’ve never done
before. A sample day’s schedule begins at 6 a.m. with a hike to the property’s organic garden and then goes on to include such things as yoga, pilates matwork, weight lifting, tennis clinics, chanting, dance classes, sand volleyball, tai chi, and guided meditation. And those are just the highlights, from day one. The week continues in this fashion, with more choices then time. It’s an experience that will open your mind to the many ways of exercising, renewing and refreshing your body and spirit. SUMMARY Why It’s So Good for You Guests often say Rancho La Puerta is like summer camp for adults. While summer is not the only time the visit, the point is, the ranch provides the type of getaway that adults so often miss out on, something reminiscent of our relaxing, unhurried, stress-free childhood years. Time is spent engaging in a seemingly endless schedule of fun classes and activities on Rancho La Puerta’s picturesque, campus-like grounds. At day’s end, a lovely dinner awaits you in the communal dining room. There’s no hurried driving anywhere and no worries about what your next meal will be. There’s no stress. And each morning, you rise early and have yet another opportunity to do it all again, spending another idyllic day relaxing, renewing, and exploring. It doesn’t get much better then that. Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, or to us gringos known as Rocky Point, began its life close to 90 years ago. In the 1920s Puerto Peñasco was known as Cerro de Peñasco and was merely a temporary camp for passing fishermen. Over the years that small fishing camp began to develop into a full fledged fishing community and Americans began to notice the potential of the area as a tourist destination. Presently Rocky Point is in a transitional phase, drifting away from its roots as a shrimping town and quickly becoming one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations.
Mission San Juan Capistrano is in the center of the small town named for it. Shops and restaurants also named for it are found on the streets in front of the entrance to the mission. A high adobe wall surrounds the mission grounds. There are many restored buildings in the inner patio, and the great stone church. Across the fountain there is the bell wall that sits beside the ruined church. Near the bell is a statue of Father Junipero Serra. The ruins of the original stone church are in front of the mission. Only the sanctuary and parts of the church remain, but that’s enough to have an idea of how big it was. The church walls are made of large stones and birds have build nests between them. Mission San Juan Capistrano was one of many Spanish

Many countries have the pleasure of celebrating Independence Days. These historic holidays are filled with nationalistic celebrations and delicious traditional food. In Chile, the natives celebrate their break from Spain with Fiestas Patrias. In Mexico, the president begins the celebration by ringing a bell and reciting the “Grito de Dolores” and he ends his speech by saying “Viva Mexico” three times.
The mission of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is a non-profit organization/museum founded to celebrate and cultivate an appreciation for the enduring and evolving influence of Mexican and Mexican-American culture, with a specific focus upon the unique Mexican-American experience in Los Angeles and Southern California. The museum itself is near where Los Angeles was founded in 1871 and includes a 2.2 anchor campus that includes two historic and renovated buildings (Vickrey Brunswig Building and Plaza House). All surrounded by beautiful public gardens. La Plaza is also located near the heart of Los Angeles surrounded by other ethnic sites like Little Tokyo. (However after visiting one can 't help to realize the homeless problem in the Los Angeles area, and realizing some are even Chicano.)
Through the study of the Peruvian society using articles like “The “Problem of the Indian...” and the Problem of the Land” by Jose Carlos Mariátegui and the Peruvian film La Boca del Lobo directed by Francisco Lombardi, it is learned that the identity of Peru is expressed through the Spanish descendants that live in cities or urban areas of Peru. In his essay, Mariátegui expresses that the creation of modern Peru was due to the tenure system in Peru and its Indigenous population. With the analyzation of La Boca del Lobo we will describe the native identity in Peru due to the Spanish treatment of Indians, power in the tenure system of Peru, the Indian Problem expressed by Mariátegui, and the implementation of Benedict Andersons “Imagined Communities”.
Easy going Guadalajara, Mexico's second city is the area's best-known destination, packed with elegant buildings and surrounded by scenic country. Further afield the land spreads spectacularly green and mountainous, studded with volcanoes and lakes, including Lake Chapala. There are many Fiestas around here and there are among the most vital in Mexico, and there's a legacy of village handicrafts that survives from the earliest days of conquest.

To understand how the Ponce de Leon Hotel shows the values of the leisure class, one must understand how the leisure class came to be as according to Veblen. Veblen states in his book that ‘In the sequence of cultural evolution the emergence of a leisure class coincides with the beginning of ownership.’ (Veblen 15) He then goes on to discuss how early distinctions of the working class and the leisure class ‘is a division maintained between men’s and women’s work in the lower stage of barbarism’ and how even ‘the earliest form of ownership is the ownership of women’. So essentially the leisure class is the leisure class thank...

Identify the population and provide a description and background of the population including potential cultural identifiers, stereotypes, and traditions.
What is culture? Many people ask themselves this question every day. The more you think about it the more confusing it is. Sometimes you start leaning to a culture and then people tell you you’re wrong or they make you feel like a different person because of your culture. I go through this almost every day. Because of the way I was raised I love Mexican rodeo but I was born and raised in Joliet. This can be very difficult trying to understand culture. I live in this huge mix of culture. Culture is personal. People can have many cultures especially in America and because of globalization. Cultural identity is not one or the other, it is not Mexican or American. Cultural identity is an individual relevant thing.
