Ralph Northam is the Virginia born son of Nancy B. Shearer, a nurse, and Wescott B. Northam, a commonwealth attorney judge and current lieutenant governor. Ralph was born September 13, 1959, in Nassawadox, Virginia and is the brother to Thomas Northam. He grew up on a farm in Onancock, where he learned to hunt and graduated from high school as salutatorian and was voted "Most Likely to Succeed." Ralph attended and graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1981 after receiving a bachelor's degree in biology. Three years later he would earn an M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School where he would serve as an assistant professor of neurology. Ralph would serve in the military from 1984 to 1992 as an army physician where he became a major. He was born on August 1, 1961, in Mount Holly Township, New Jersey to Carroll and John Gillespie, an immigrant from Ireland. Gillespie grew up in Brown Mills New Jersey where he would later work at his family’s grocery store and graduate from Pemberton Township High School. He attended college at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and worked as a Senate parking lot attendant at capitol hill. Working as a parking attendant he would meet an intern for the representative of Florida and become and become an intern as well after graduating. In the beginning of his political career, he would work as a phone solicitor for the RNC and a drafter of the “Contract With America.” In 1996 Gillespie would serve as the communications director for the RNC and press secretary for John Kasich. John Birks, also known as “Dizzy Gillespie” was born October 21,1917. He grew up in Cheraw, South Carolina. Gillespie was the youngest of his nine siblings. Gillespie’s father was a bandleader as well as a bricklayer. His father died when he was only ten years of age. Several years after his father passed away Dizzy Gillespie became a self-taught trombone and trumpet player (“David”). His skills increased so much over time that he later learned how to play the cornet. Gillespie had a special talent for playing these instruments. He was enrolled into the Laurinburg Institute of North Carolina in 1932. The school told him that they wanted him to play for their band. During his time at the school, he practiced his instruments mostly by himself.

Boniface Wimmer is regarded as one of the greatest missionaries of the nineteenth century. His mission was to establish a Benedictine monastery abroad in the United States to help the thousands of Catholic Germans who fled from their homeland in search of a better life. “Today, there are over thirty Abbeys and monasteries that take their root from Archabbot Boniface Wimmer, O.S.B.” With the grace of God, Boniface Wimmer succeeded. He was considered to be a “man on a mission.” His tenacious attitude aided him in spreading the mission of the Benedictine Order across the Atlantic Ocean. The Benedictines were seen not only as missionaries, but also as teachers and priests. The strong sense of bonding and connection within the community was vital to the Benedictine Order then, as it still is today.

He attended Ogden Elementary School, and later Trask Junior High School. Jordan attended Emsley A. Laney High School, where he anchored his athletic career by playing baseball, football, and basketball ("Michael Jordan" Wikipedia). When jordan was twelve, he played with his local baseball team called the Babe Ruth All-stars. Jordan helped his team win there championship (Mattern 79). As A freshman at Laney, Jordan was cut from the varsity team and was reduced to playin junior varsity. His sophmore year he was cut from the varsity team once again, but this time, his best friend Leroy Smith, made the team. When Michael found out he did not make the team, he said:

He was known as an engineer and manufacturer; however more importantly he was known as “the third-best American inventor during the pre-atomic age” (Inventor of the Week). Even as a child Whitney showed interest in machinery. During Whitney’s youth, he invented the nail-making machine, and later in life he devised the first milling machine, pain lessening devices for himself, and the idea of interchangeable parts, and “the father of the mass production method” (Whitney Museum). Although he invented a wide variety of machines and devices, the invention of the cotton gin (short for cotton engine) is what he is most known for.
