Ralph, the intelligent, charismatic leader who people put their faith in. The leader who believes that they will be rescued from the uninhabited island and will soon return home. The leader who represents order, civilization, and hard work. The leader who took on the task of bringing the boys together. These qualities illustrate the character of Ralph in Lord of the Flies. In my everyday life, I relate to Ralph the most.
In the novel, Ralph is chosen as the leader of the group of children who are stranded on the island after a plane crash. Ralph represents order and leadership in the novel. For instance, Ralph says, "We ought to have more rules. Where the conch is that is the meeting." This sentence conveys to the readers that Ralph is very orderly and likes to have rules. Similarly, in my everyday life, I also believe that order is the best way to run something whether it is a group or a project. Without a leader in the group, there would be no order, everything is chaotic. Likewise to Ralph, I also believe that order is the best way to run the group. Without Ralph’s teamwork skills, he could not bring everyone together and they couldn’t work together. Ralph communicates with the choir well and is able to work together to get things done. He also listens to other people's ideas and finds solutions to problems that they encounter. During group activities, I am able to communicate with everyone and gives my group members certain tasks to do. I listen to other people's’ ideas and take them into consideration. We all contribute ideas to the assignment and we all work together as a team. For instance, once during science class, we did an experiment on waves.
