Introduction When an education major is in their first college education courses, they are faced with the daunting task of entering a new place, new atmosphere, and essentially a whole new world to observe the ways of what they someday hope to become; a teacher. Their assigned teacher has already been through what the education majors are going to be experiencing for the very first time for numerous minutes, hours, and days. This task is more commonly referred to as ‘observation hours’. The usual setting for observation hours is in your typical elementary, middle, or high school. Every day the education major goes in and sits in on a class and observes the teacher and their normal classroom operation. They learn what to do and what not to …show more content…
This makes this time of transition a very fragile and scary experience. The Dahlonega Rainbow Children’s Home is aware of this, so they make it their priority to make each and every resident, child, girl, truly happy and comfortable. They do this difficult task by setting goals. The goals of this organization are to provide children with the three basic elements needed to survive. These elements are food, clothing, and shelter. After meeting the necessities of survival, The Rainbow Children’s Home focuses on getting every girl to where she needs to be academically, emotionally, and mentally. They aim to accomplish these goals by teaching independent living skills, such as doing their own laundry, cooking meals, and personal hygiene. The Dahlonega Rainbow Children’s Home works on improving each resident’s mental health by supplying mental health counseling to every girl, and there are always two staff members in the home with the children to ensure their safety. The maximum occupancy of the home is eight girls at a time. This maximum occupancy gives the staff members the ability to watch over and work with each girl more easily than having many girls running about the house all at once. Throughout the United States, women who are victims of domestic violence seek refuge in battered women’s shelters. Here is where they can leave their abusive situation and find safety. Here is where a woman can begin a fresh start with her children. Though these shelters make a difference in these women and children’s lives, there are still problems that a temporary home cannot fix. These women and children need more intervention. Building New Beginnings is a new, innovative program that reaches out to both women and their children living in these shelters. Its goal is to prevent the residual effects of domestic violence from negatively impacting their lives.

Precious’s case is unique and layered with many factors that affect her ability to grow into a healthy functioning adult. It is critical to make interventions that consider economic, cultural, psychological, biological and environmental factors that shape the client’s experiences. Providing a safe environment, and supporting Precious on making responsible decisions for the success of her future are my main objectives as her social worker.

In the physical sense, a rainbow appears after a storm in the sky. It is made up of seven different colors. As it forms an arch, we may look at its shape as being a segment of a complete circle. From the rainbows physical dimensions, Shange draws out other qualities that suit the fluidity and logic of her choreopoem. While it can appear a simple natural phenomenon we take for granted, Shanges choreopoem delivers the rainbow as a complex sustaining figure which forecasts a change in the weather and a change in the life of `the colored girls.' The rainbow is a powerful symbol in Shange's choreopoem. It is not only beautiful in one sense, but it's meaning is rather complex. There is more to the rainbow than its seven colors.
Most people see teachers and professors in the same light. They perform similar tasks. They teach. However, they are separated by a fine line of distinction. High school teachers help a student build a foundation of knowledge, and train the student to focus on learning. College professors help to shape and define a student’s foundation of knowledge, and challenge the student to cultivate the mind. High school teachers and college professors have similar goals and guidelines, but they take a differing approach to achieving the end result. The way the class is conducted, academic expectations, and view of student responsibility are a few of the contrasts between high school teachers and college professors.
Aside from the students, high school and college would be meaningless without its faculty. Most teachers and professors in high school and college are well-educated individuals. They have spent some years studying to obtain a teaching degree. As teachers and professors, their main concern (or goal) is for the student to learn, understand, and master the course they teach. The teacher or professor may accomplish this goal by reviewing the material, emphasizing key points, or providing the students with examples that they could easily relate to. Most of them are willing to dedicate extra time to help the student meet his or her needs. Several high school teachers, as well as some college professors go beyond reading, writing, and arithmetic. They teach you about life in general, all its hardships and all its rewards. Receiving a good education is great, but enhancing your individuality and growing as a person is just as important.
