Recommended: An essay on sharks
This was BAD!!! I’m Toni Drumwright, a prized member of the San Francisco Coast Guard. Today started with a bang when I was eating lunch and my crew got called in for a rescue in the bay where a raft had turned over. The crew loaded up in the helicopter and we zoomed down to Fernandez Bay. As we got closer, we began to see the victim of the raft crash. My partner, Beth Lewis, told me it was my turn to physically make the rescue. I threw the ladder out and waited till we hovered over the victim. It was showtime! I jumped onto the ladder and got to about the 3rd step when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Then I saw it. It was an 18 ft. shark zooming at me. I scurried back up the ladder just in time, and the shark bit my towel hanging
from my side. The shark swam off with, luckily, nothing but a Coast Guard towel in its mouth. Plus, I went back down and made the rescue like a pro. All in a day’s work, right!?
Black Water Rafting Case Analysis Black Water Rafting has outgrown their original business plan, goals, and partnership setup; to ensure growth, protect itself from impeding competition, and to ensure future financing Black Water Rafting must establish a strategic plan for the next two years. Because of external pressures from both competition and uncertainty about their primary tour, which accounts for 66.7% of their income, Black Water Rafting must diversify their offerings to customers to ensure future growth and a competitive advantage. As external market conditions and the environment change, such as the land rights of the native tribes of New Zealand, private landowners and a new hotel proposal, Black Water Rafting's profitability and ability to react in the market is affected.

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” At some point in life one is faced with a decision which will define the future, but only time will tell whether or not the choice was right or wrong. The Boat by Alistair MacLeod demonstrates that an individual should make their own decisions in life, be open to new experiences and changes, and that there is no way to obtain something, without sacrificing something else.
I took a deep breath and told myself it wasn’t going to be that bad and I could just use my instincts. As soon as I turned around the woman fainted, but luckily she was still breathing. She woke up about 30 seconds later and she asked what was going on, I tried to explain as much as I could, but I was just as lost as she was. I started asking all the appropriate questions and this time she had the energy to answer
It was a warm rainy June night the humidity was high which made it even harder to breathe on the crammed boat. My family was asleep on the constantly rocking boat suddenly the boat shook, but my family was still fast asleep. I couldn’t seem to fall asleep so I got up and stepped out on the cold wet steel boats upper deck to get some air. When I got outside I realized that it was pouring bucket sized rain. I saw increasingly large waves crash furiously against the lower deck. Hard water droplets pelted my face, I could taste the salt water in my mouth from the spray of the ocean. Suddenly A massive wave slammed hard against the ship and almost swallowed the boat. Wind gusts started kicking up. I held onto the rail grasping it as if it were my prized possession. Suddenly I was blown
There are many social problems that exist in the world today, which includes but do not limits to self-identity and racism. However, they somehow go unnoticed because at times people conform to what society thinks is the way to live. In my opinion, people believe they should act or feel a certain way because of what is broadcast on television, featured in magazines, and even brought into the limelight by celebrities. After viewing the movie Crash, in my opinion, the movie targets on going social problems that are constantly being swept under the rug to this present day. I deem Crash a race movie because it forces the audience to question their own moral values.
In its day, the Titanic was the largest, most modern cruise liner in the world. The builders
Millions of people have heard about the massive ship that claimed to be ¨unsinkable¨ (Callery 14). The ship exploded with excitement and hope for the passengers. Travelers from various different lifestyles and incomes came together for one purpose, to glide across the ocean one wave at a time. Passengers onboard the Titanic had no idea what they would encounter or the fame that would come out of this already famous ship. No one expected the tragedy that would take place in the middle of the ocean. The structure, passengers, and the sinking of the Titanic made it one of the most famous ships of the twentieth century.
I blacked out. Minutes later I was hearing the medic lady trying to communicate with me while she was strapping me down to the stretcher.
While we were in our holding barracks we all heard rumors about “shark week”. We quickly found for ourselves what it was when we stopped at our barracks. The doors opened and the vacation was over. You had 3 drill sergeants yelled to get off the bus immediately. I was in the last 10 people to get off the cattle truck but I remember the last guy got yelled at and punished with a lot of physical activity. There was yelling from everywhere, people having to do push-ups or running around with a duffle bag full of clothes. This went on for an hour straight. Once we finally got into a big formation, our drill sergeant “smoked” us for an hour. “Smoked” is a termed we used indicating complete exhaustion. We all were dog tired and then we had to run upstairs to the second floor and find a bed. We all found a bed and were standing at the end of it. Of course we had done it wrong because we were not in alphabetical order. We got punished for that by doing push-ups, sit-ups and crawling on the floor from one side to the other. The “smoking” continued through dinner and up until bed time. All we wanted to do was sleep but when we were finished for the night, we had to set up a fire guard (aka security guard) rotation. We finished at 2200 at night and we to have pairs of two stay awake for an hour and walking around the bay area with the beds and make sure everything was safe. If you had the 0500 to 0600

Have you ever had a moment in time that seems like minutes or hours even though it was only a few seconds? Have you ever seen everything before you play out in slow motion, where you are aware of everything around you, yet not knowing what was going on? I have, and as I look back on it, I feel very blessed and protected. On March 21, 1987, I decided to take a little swim in our swimming pool and almost drowned.
It was a clear crisp summer morning, so naturally, my family was arguing about how to utilize the day. “We should go to the movie theater and watch Jurassic World” remarked my mom with her hands on her hips.
In a beautifully descriptive poem titled “Diving into the Wreck”, author Adrienne Rich seems to be depicting a quest the narrator is on, to delve deep into the sea and explore a wreckage beneath the waves. The poem focuses more so on the preparation and process of the dive rather than of the search of the wreckage itself, which plays an interesting factor in the poem. But, as the narrator dives into the water, the reader is taken into a deeper journey along with them. Diving under the surface of the poem, and looking further into the meaning, there is a central theme of women who have been oppressed for hundreds of years struggling for their rights in a society that is mainly dominated by males. The poem is much more than just an adventurous
Accidents happen all the time whether we know it or not. Some could possibly be avoided and others may not. I was a young girl, who didn’t truly grasp the concept of life and death. Every time I was upset about something, I would think about ending my own life. However, through one horrifying incident, that silly thought of mine completely vanished. Thanks to that specific mishap, the way I perceived life and death has in turn, changed entirely anew.
