Two of these people were Sarah Jane Moore and former marine Oliver Sipple. As the President made his way to the car Moore pulled a gun from her bag and fired a single shot at the President. Not expecting to have to take a second shot Moore was slow to cock the pistol again and before she could take another shot she was stopped by Sipple who had been pushed to the front by the crowd. Sipple was one of these people who moved to San Francisco after his time in the marines in order to hide his sexuality from his family in Michigan. Consequently, it was very concerning to Sipple when his story was being spread across America who feared that somehow his sexuality would be leaked to the public. Radiolab then goes on to tell the story about Harvey Milk, a gay rights activist in San Francisco who was close friends with Sipple. Seeing an opportunity to portray a gay man as a national hero, milk told a reporter about Sipples personal life later resulting in a personal interview between a LA Times reporter named Daryl Lembke and Sipple. During the interview Sipple explicitly stated that he did not want his sexuality to be in the article stating that it had no influence over his actions. However Lembke still included Sipples sexuality in his write up of the interview when he sent it to a LA Times journalist who later included the fact that sipple was gay in an article that was published across America. This Lead to a huge dispute between Sipple and his family who felt disgraced to be related to
In addition to lobbying politicians, Pat wanted to change local attitudes so, taking advantage of her popularity as a guest speaker at Rotary, Lions, Toastmasters and other local groups, she made gay equality her subject at every meeting she spoke at, and convinced many locals previously unconcerned by the matter, of the injustices faced by the gay and lesbian communities. “I was so angry that gays were treated differently. We are all equal and should be treated the same. It is unfair and unjust to be judged as a person on your sexuality” she said.

James Robert "Radio" Kennedy, is a mentally challenged, young Black man, who in the mid 1970's, spent his afternoons walking past the local high school football field. Radio would walk past the field pushing a shopping cart every day. In the cart was a radio. One day a football came over the fence nearby where he was standing, watching and learning how to coach and how to make friends with many people, and as he picked up the ball, he looked at the players and the coach and walked away with it. Coach Jones invited Radio to be his assistant. The football players didn't like this, so they tortured the young man in every way they could possibly think of. Coach Jones didn't tolerate this kind of behavior and asked Radio to stay as long as he wanted. Some people in the town complained that Radio was a distraction to Coach Jones and the football team, but soon he would change T.L. Hannah High School forever.
Certainly, being born into a privileged family have their advantages. Unfortunately, for those who are born into poverty may struggle for their success, but it is not impossible. The podcast “Three Miles” is a great example of that. Comparatively, on the surface Melanie and Raquel are two individuals coming from the same unfortunate circumstances. Although, both girls were introduced to the same pen pal program their outcomes would travel different courses. Initially, the purpose of this program is to give students from poor neighborhoods a glimpse inside their wealthier counterpart’s lives, from another school. Raquel and Melanie’s backgrounds were similar, because they were afforded the same opportunities, but they turned out differently. Raquel was driven while Melanie is unambitious.
John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo are two murderers that are known as the Beltway Sniper. Muhammad and Malvo killings are known to be random, which categorizes their killings as a killing spree. During the duration of their killing spree, they caused major panic throughout the United States. This notorious shootings that terrorized the United States took place in 2002. The shootings ended up taking the lives of 10 individuals and injuring 3 others (Blades, 2005, para.1). The shooting at the time it took place is considered unique because their weapon of choice to carry out their plan was a sniper rifle. What is unique about this case is that investigators and criminal theorist
...is novel with an outstanding salute to those who serve in law enforcement saying, “And so I tip my hat to all the good cops throughout our nation who risk their lives and strive to do the right thing when facing split-second decisions about life and death every day in the kill zone” (Klinger, 2004, page 274). Pulling the trigger of a gun can cause a variety of issues both within and outside of a police officer’s life, but it could also potentially save another human being from harm and keep the safety of our society intact.
In conclusion John Allen Muhammad was executed for the 2002 D.C. sniper shooting. Now the city of Washington D. C. can rest easy knowing they are not in harm’s way. Have the lives of the people who have lost loved ones been drastically changed for the worst, or has their lives become easier with time? Hopefully they will regain strength to carry on and pass this tragedy of the sniper shooting. This tragedy should be a lesson for everyone to deal with things and not let those things control every aspect of people’s lives and how they live it.

Since November 23, 1963, the day after President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated, there have been speculations as to the happenings of November 22, 1963. Along with the Warren Commission, there are hundreds of conspiracies and theories attempting to explain the assassination of Kennedy. Many people agree with the Warren Commission in that Lee Harvey Oswald acted as the lone gunman, while others maintain that another gunman was involved. Because of extensive evidence, I believe that Oswald did not act alone on November 22, 1963 in the assassination of Kennedy. The additional gunman was strategically placed in the grassy knoll area, in order to shoot at Kennedy from a frontal view (Rubinstein 4).
On New Year’s Day 2009, the police were called because a fight broke out on a train in Oakland, California. Oscar Grant and some of his friends were pulled off the train by former cop Johannes Mehserle. Grant struggled some with the officers while being arrested, but then he was restrained. Oscar Grant was lying on the platform when Johannes Mehserle shot him around 2 am. Granted had both hands behind his back and he was also unarmed when he was shot (Bulwa). The shooting made national headlines because bystanders videotaped it. These videos went viral and they made their way to the news (Cater).
Witnesses in this case described Brown and Wilson having a scuffle inside of the car, and the gun went off through the car before Brown jumped out and started running (Dennis & Santhanam). Once Wilson got out the car he immediately started shooting. Brown put both hands in air and tuned around towards Wilson and he shot 5 more times a total 6 shots until Mike Brown was dead on the ground (Dennis & Santhanam). Was it right for him to shoot him that many times, and was he a threat once he was away from Mr. Wilson? Why didn’t he take off on foot, or call for backup? Why did he immediately shoot, as well as shoot him up to six times? Were those ethical decisions, well these are just a few of the questions American citizens were discussing in their
Harvey Milk said, “If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door.”(Aretha 83). Harvey Milk was the first gay politician that moved people’s hearts. He changed the way people thought about gay people back in the 1970’s. Defending homosexuals from criticism, he civilized them with the people. Since the background of homosexuality was harsh which affected Harvey Milk’s early life, he took the action to process of becoming civilized as an officer, and he left many legacies.
