Has the question of “Why does this movie draw me in” ever come to mind? The answer will vary, but it is all based on one’s criteria. Personally, to fit a movie into the “great” category, the movie has to be original, meaning that the storyline and plot of the movie are not the same as others made in the same time frame, and keep me engaged. The movie Radio exceeds the expectations of a good film with its deep emotional connection with the characters, pure case of realism, and a straight to the point, yet appealing plot. Directed by Michael Tollin, the film Radio has a touching impact. During the game scene, he is shown on the sidelines with the football players giving them the best support he can, being on the track with the cheerleaders, and getting love from the crowd, all while putting a smile on everyone's face. This helps connect with the audience because you can see his pure happiness during all of this, and it is contagious, leaving the audience with the same ear-to-ear grin Radio had. Having a strong connection with the characters is a principal factor to have, but the characters have to be relatable in order for members to truly be impacted. The drama-filled film, Radio, is based on a true story. To portray that in the movie, the director includes many factors of realism. After every game, the head coach goes to a barber shop. After Radio’s first appearance at a football game, one of the football players' dads, came up to him and said, “That was quite a show you put out on out there tonight coach, I was wondering if you are running a football program or a social club” (33:03-33:08).
