My primary goal as a student would be to get involved in clubs and organization, at the same time work towards career goal of being a Radiation Therapist through the Department of Radiation Sciences. I am currently taking Pharmacy Technician class, which helps me get a better understanding of the medical field. I am also planning to volunteer at INOVA's Hospital Elder Life Program to get experience in a hospital environment. During my time in VCU I plan to work hard towards my goals and succeeding at it by involving in every opportunity VCU has to offer. VCU is perfect for me because it offers programs that are perfect for my career goals it will help me get on the right path. I am very passionate about achieving my goals and making my family
My primary goal is to become a Surgical Technician/Medical Assistant. I've done tons of research on the career and I feel it best suits my interest, my work ethic and my hunger for the expansion of knowledge. I plan on attending VCU for four years, majoring in Bio-Science. After receiving my Bachelors Degree I will exercise my studies and apply them to my future career at any hospital or medical center of my choice at that moment, such as CJW Medical Center (Chippenham Campus), or St.Mary's Hospital and etc. I feel VCU has what I need to succeed because of their very proficient MCV program. Approximately nine through twelve hundred students every year graduate under a major which involved the MCV program. The environment is very positive and
The potential profession I am going to pursue is Radiology. Radiology deals with taking x-rays of the body and diagnosing what you find wrong. How the radiology unit works is getting a patient and having the radiologist technician take images of the body by using machines. Different types of machines such as, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and positron emission tomography (PET), identify all the images being taken of the human body (Phillip Costello, 2014). After the images have been taken they are sent to the radiologist to be interpreted. After being interpreted the patient is then told their diagnoses. Each of these steps involves writing in a certain form. Writing is a form of communication in the radiology unit so it must be specific and clear for someone else to interpret.
...my best self, both in and out of the classroom. Equipped with Bachelor of Science in Nursing from LSUHSC, I will dedicate my life and career to fulfilling my role as a leader in health care delivery and strive to continually learn and grow in the field of nursing. I will use my core professional values to represent compassion, respect, integrity and excellence at all times because I understand that a holistic treatment is imperative in effectively healing all individuals. I will take the knowledge I gain at LSUHSC School of Nursing, as well as my own personal experiences, and apply it each and every day to all patients in my care. The field of nursing is my calling and as both a student and graduate of LSUHSC School of Nursing, I will give myself wholeheartedly to the study and practice of nursing while embodying the mission and vision of LSUHSC School of Nursing.
Virginia Tech is a school that provides the most academic and mental help, which makes me very blessed to call this school my home. The professors I have come into contact with have shown me nothing but supporting and kindness. The points that Matthew Sanders made in his wonderful book are extremely applicable and I agree with each and every one of them. The points he made in his book made me open my eyes to new outlooks on my college experience. I hope to no longer be a “passive student” but rather work to become a “thriving
The main component I look for in college is their commitment to further my studies. I feel this college will provide an ingenious culture within the science field, therefore rendering myself with the building blocks necessary to later pursue the medical field. Not only does UNCW devote itself towards their student’s undergraduate years, but also by providing Professional pathways such as Pre-Medicine, students such as myself can go into Professional schools better prepared. In addition to my interest in the academics the school has to offer, I also marvel at the amount of extracurricular activities available to the student body. One student organization in particular is the Greek Life. When my mother attended this school, she was an avid member
The role of the radiologist is one that has undergone numerous changes over the years and continues to evolve a rapid pace. Radiologists specialize in the diagnoses of disease through obtaining and interpreting medical images. There are a number of different devices and procedures at the disposal of a radiologist to aid him or her in these diagnoses’. Some images are obtained by using x-ray or other radioactive substances, others through the use of sound waves and the body’s natural magnetism. Another sector of radiology focuses on the treatment of certain diseases using radiation (RSNA). Due to vast clinical work and correlated studies, the radiologist may additionally sub-specialize in various areas. Some of these sub-specialties include breast imaging, cardiovascular, Computed Tomography (CT), diagnostic radiology, emergency, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, pediatric radiology, radiobiology, and Ultrasound (Schenter). After spending a vast amount of time on research and going to internship at the hospital, I have come to realize that my passion in science has greatly intensified. Furthermore, both experiences helped to shape up my future goals more prominently than before, which is coupled with the fact that I have now established a profound interest in radiology, or rather nuclear medicine.
Respiratory care makes a difference. And there are reasons why a Respiratory Therapist would be a great job. A guest speaker came into our class to explain more about the job. He explained education requirements, the job description, and the job opportunities.
“Nurses don’t wait until October to celebrate Make a Difference Day — they make a difference every day”, explains an unknown author. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am also a person who thrives on being challenged and I always have new goals to achieve, so nursing suits me as few other careers offer as much diversity and learning opportunities so, attending Virginia Commonwealth University is something that has been my desire for the longest. The intentions that I have for when I become a nurse practitioner are to aid and care for the sick, as well as I am able but also to assist doctors and staff as well as I am capable.
Radiation is something that the naked eye cannot see, yet has the potential to save lives one treatment at a time or even one image at a time. Since the discovery of x-rays in 1895, it has branched out into numerous modalities each independently specializing in their own ways. X rays are used to aid in the diagnosis and treatments of patients on a case by case scenario. Sometimes doctors can make a diagnosis on the same day or conclude that a patient will require radiation therapy within weeks to follow. Whatever it may be, the importance of x rays and radiation itself is a crucial part of the medical field when it comes to saving lives. Initially it all started with the discovery of x rays but then three years later radiation therapy was introduced to aid with
I have always admired the work of healthcare professionals and other emergency services through not only being witness to, but also being on the receiving end of the amazing and professional care
While at OBU I plan to have a blast but I also plan to get an education that will last a lifetime. By concurring my fears and getting the most out of my core classes I will learn more than just what my degree is in. I will gain an education that I will value for the rest of my life.

I am attending Baton Rouge General School of Radiologic Technology to pursue an Associates degree through Northwestern State University to become a licensed radiologic technologist. I chose this profession because I thoroughly enjoy helping others and making a difference in people’s lives. Radiologic technologists are expected to give efficient patient care while following the doctor’s order to proceed with the X-ray examination. Radiology is the most important role in healthcare because with out having X-rays, the surgeons could not see inside of the patient’s body to perform surgery. Doctors can not predict what is going on inside of a patient without having an X-ray. I am interested in this being my future career because
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
Life contains an unlimited amount of life lessons; my main life lesson has inspired me to never give up on myself or my goals. Through my life experiences I have learned that there is no such thing as failure. I am certain with myself that I can find success through hard work and dedication. My career aspiration is to help others as a healthcare professional. More specifically, I have a dream of pursuing a career in physical therapy. Nothing gives me more self-satisfaction than to see that I am able to help people self-improve. Therefore, I have committed to studying and preparing myself for graduate school. I am currently an Undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida, destined to graduate in the Fall of 2017. There are multiple Undergraduate degree paths I can take to prepare myself for grad-school; however, I chose a path that can help me develop skills to provide the best possible service for my future patients. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences
