If racism will ever stop. According to the “Historical Timeline of Racism in Canada,”

going on ever since then. Many people presume that racism has existed since people have started to notice
differences between themselves and others around them. One may not know the meaning of racism
because it means something different to each and every individual. For example the more common
definition would be judging someone based on the color of one’s skin or religion. In Canada racism has
taken an immense change.
Bharati Mukherjee is a professor of creative writing, in the United States of America, who had
“not met an Indian in Canada who has not suffered the humiliations of being overlooked (in jobs, in
queues, in deserved recognition) and from being singled out (in hotels, department stores, on the streets,

racist towards a customer based on the customers skin color, and singled the customer out. The customer
paid for the items, collected the bags and was about to leave the store when the blaring siren went off.

the customer to walk through the detectors again. Once again the screeching noise erupted. The shopper

In conclusion, racism is a growing and controversial issue. Basically it is judging someone
based on ones appearance, religion, or beliefs; which is definitely wrong and an act of discrimination.

name calling.” (Mukherjee, Bharati “An Invisible Women.”) In Canada there are many positive things
that have been done and are being done to end racism, such as the UER. Individuals need to stop being
racist, and learn to accept one another. Racism does exist and it does scar people, even if people are
different from us we are all one and must treat each other equally or as one wishes to be treated.
At Chipotle, a Mexican fast food restaurant, the customer approached the first station where he ordered a burrito. The first employee asked “What can I get started for you?” The customer then replied with “Andrew will get a chicken burrito.” The employee proceeded then to warm a tortilla and ask the customer what kind of rice and beans he would like. The customer responded in similar fashion, saying, “Andrew will take some brown rice and no beans.” It was then that the customer began to look at the customer with a confused look. She did not say anything, and she continued to keep creating the burrito. When the customer went to the next part of the burrito-creating process (with a new employee), he did not begin his responses with “Andrew will have” but rather stating what he wanted on the burrito (e.g. “pico, sour cream and cheese, please.”). The next employee was the cashier, responsible for ringing up the customer for his food. The cashier asked the customer if the burrito was going to be it for him. The customer responded with “That’s going to be it for Andrew today.” The cashier then acknowledged the customer and then proceeded to check the customer out. Once the checkout was completed, the customer said “Thank you,” and left the restaurant.

Each person is unique in his or her way and that makes Canada an amazing and diverse country. The ability to learn from different cultures at a workplace or while socializing can open up people's minds to new morals, beliefs and practices. People with different ethnicity, culture and religion could bring a lot of positive ideas for the companies they work in. Individuals who interact with people from different cultures become more aware and knowledgeable about their surroundings and can become more open minded.
