In today’s society, racism, discrimination. And sexism are America’s biggest issues. We hear about these issues mostly every day, and see it on social media all the time. This has been a problem for hundreds of years, even if there has been movements, and laws passes. So why is it that these issues are still here today? It is time this mess comes to an end.

Racism has been around for the longest time. You will probably hear or see it every day. Discrimination comes into place with racism. In the 60s when racism and discrimination was at its worse, they had separated everything for African Americans and white people. There was separation between their bathrooms, restaurants, water fountains, and even the city bus. Of course, we all know that Rosa Parks and Martin Luther were big

influences during this time period.

They proved points and used their voices to show that black lives matter. Here we are today, still with racism and discrimination. Today all we hear about is how African Americans are being abused and shot by police. There is two sides’ different sides to the police brutality, those who say it is about race and those who say it has nothing to do with it. It absolutely has to do with race because there is no other race being targeted. African Americans are being shot or attacked for simple things such as celling cds, or even simply walking down the street. The Black Lives Matter movement was created in 2012 after Trayvan Martin’s murder, George Zimmerman was acquitted for his crime and 17- year old Trayvon was posthumously placed on trial for his own murder. We hear cases like this all the time. Every day, African

Americans are being accused for crimes they did not commit. African Americans should feel safe and secure, but instead they feel terrified and attacked. This is the land of the free, yet African Americans feel so unsafe. We all need to show support for one another and not hurt people. We all need to see each as one. It is time to change the discrimination and racism in today’s society.
Today, sexism is such a big issue. It is everywhere, especially in the media. Today, we have feminist, and feminist is the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. Women have constantly been through struggles and challenges to get equal rights as men. It has only been 100 years that women are able to vote, while white men were always able to vote. Feminism was started to prove that women can be as equal as men, and show that women do not need men, and women can do as much work as men, and get equal pay. In some career pathways, men get paid more than women, and that is a problem because women work just as hard as men, but get paid less than they do. Women with full time jobs will get 77% of a man’s pay. Six million women are denied every year from education. Why is it that a man can get a free education, but women cannot get an education? Women can do anything a man can do, and that is why we have feminist and more protests for equal rights in both genders. In today’s society, we have more and more feminist and more protests for equal rights. In today’s media, women are sexually presented, and are supposed to look a certain way, and it causes stress and anxiety for women. The media is always showing women as sexual beings, and that’s not how women should be treated or showed. In today’s society, women are constantly being sexually harassed, but yet they still get blamed for it. It is not okay to blame women for something that is absolutely not her fault, and out of her control. We here phrases such as “she asked for it” or it was her fault, she shouldn’t have been dressed like that.” That is such a big issue, and women should never be told that.
In conclusion, these two groups of people have things in common, and discrimination needs to come to an end. Women and African Americans are constantly going through a struggle, and it is time that it comes to a stop. People need to understand that everyone should be treated equal, and in Gods eyes we’re all the same. We need to start with those problems in our world, and the world will have a little bit less problems. Equality is important and people need to be more caring and not discriminate people for their genders, beliefs, races, religion.
