In today’s society, racism, discrimination. And sexism are America’s biggest issues. We hear about these issues mostly every day, and see it on social media all the time. This has been a problem for hundreds of years, even if there has been movements, and laws passes. So why is it that these issues are still here today? It is time this mess comes to an end.
Racism has been around for the longest time. You will probably hear or see it every day. Discrimination comes into place with racism. In the 60s when racism and discrimination was at its worse, they had separated everything for African Americans and white people. They proved points and used their voices to show that black lives matter. Here we are today, still with racism and discrimination. Today all we hear about is how African Americans are being abused and shot by police. There is two sides’ different sides to the police brutality, those who say it is about race and those who say it has nothing to do with it. It absolutely has to do with race because there is no other race being targeted. African Americans are being shot or attacked for simple things such as celling cds, or even simply walking down the street. The Black Lives Matter movement was created in 2012 after Trayvan Martin’s murder, George Zimmerman was acquitted for his crime and 17- year old Trayvon was posthumously placed on trial for his own murder.
