Love: Fuel for Determination, Fuel for Motivation

Love is part of human nature, everyone knows what it is, and feels it during some point in their life. But what is one willing to do for the ones they love? What are you willing to fight for? What are you willing to give up, all for the ones you love? Throughout the novel “The Art of Racing in the Rain” there are characters who are forced to make difficult decisions, such as Denny, and the Twins. But these decisions are driven by one thing: love. Throughout the novel, Denny is fighting for custody of his daughter, and he keeps fighting, because he loves her. The Twins on the other hand are trying to take her away from him, because they love her. Both sides are fighting for

Love impacts the choices they make, but in the long run, they ultimately end up doing more harm than good. As one can see through the Twins actions, they are going to the extremes for Eve, because they feel Denny wasn’t a good husband/father. They end up suing Denny and fighting for custody over Zoe, because it is what they believe Eve would have wanted. They say “Quote 2A”. This proves that the Twins are willing to go to the extremes for their child, because they want Zoe to grow up in a loving and healthy environment. They are willing to go to court for custody of their granddaughter, just for the sake of love. Love is the only reason why someone would want to go to court to take custody of a child that isn’t even theirs. The Twins are willing to separate a daughter from her father, just to have custody over her because they believe it’s what their beloved daughter wanted. Furthermore, one can see through the Twins actions, that they are charging Denny of rape because they love Zoe and don’t want a presumed sex offender near her. The Twins claim that “Quote 2B”. What one can learn from this is that the Twins don’t even know if the accusations are true, but they are so quick to jump to conclusions, if it means getting custody over their grandchild, and putting who they think is a horrible father/husband, into jail. The Twins loved Eve so much, that they took her word extremely seriously, and are at no costs going to let Denny have custody over Zoe. It is for these reasons, that one can see how the Twins actions show how much love they have for Eve and Zoe. They are willing to separate a daughter from her father, just because they believe their child wanted it that way. They are willing to assume false assault claims are true without knowing any of the facts, as long as it means getting custody over their
