Here is something you may not know, her birth name is Diane Ernestine Earle Ross. However her birth certificate says Diana. She was born and raised here in Detroit, Michigan. Where most babies in Detroit are delivered so was she, Hutzel Women’s Hospital. On March 26, 1944 a star entered the city with much more potential than anyone would have ever expected. She lived near the North End area of Detroit (woodward) and later moved to the Brewster projects. Miss Diana Ross attended a high school all Detroit citizens are familiar with, Cass Technical HS. She discovered her talent at a very young age as she began to sing in the choir at church. It was shortly after this when her career started to grow.
She is not only an actress or singer, but she is a role model. She inspires tons of people and loves giving back to the community. Etta James was raised by her mother. She grew up not knowing who her father was. It was said at one time that Rudolf Walter Wanderon Jr. also known as “Minnesota Fats” an American professional billiards player, was said to be her father. Throughout some of her childhood. Etta was mostly raised by some of her friends, and relatives, that lived close to her in the nearby neighborhood. Everyone loved Etta. Etta started performing at the young age of five. At this age, Etta known as a gospel prodigy. She grew up attending church. The first time she had ever sung was actually in the choir of the church she attended. When she was twelve, she began singing in a trio. When Etta was fifteen years old she was what some might call a rebel child. She began ditching school just to hang out with friends and drink because she thought that she could be independent.

Coretta Scott King was born Coretta Scott on April 27th, 1927 in Marion, Alabama to her parents Obadiah and Bernice Scott. She had two siblings. They were a boy named Obadiah and a girl named Edythe and lived on a farm owned by her family. Aretha was the first female artist to be introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. She also had to grow up sooner than many other girls because she had her first child at a very young age. Up until this day Aretha is still alive living at age seventy-two and has won many Grammy awards and is considered one of the most honored artist.

He had been a strict father, and both his authoritarian attitudes and his death drastically defined her relationships and her poems—most notably in her elegiac and infamous poem "Daddy."” (Academy of American Poets).
Sylvia Plath was born on October 27th, 1932 to her dad, Otto Plath, who was a professor of Biology (and an expert on bees) and her mother, Aurelia Plath. Her father died when she was eight years old from “surgery-related complications” which may have been linked to his diabetes. Although her father wasn’t particularly nice to her, his death still caused a rupture in her life, which never completely healed from. Plath excelled in school which eventually led to her getting a scholarship to go to Smith College. During her first year, she excelled and had no problem whatsoever with depression.
