To be an outstanding educator, one must be motivated, engaging, involved, caring, & knowledgeable. Teaching brings aspects of about fifty jobs into one.
An outstanding educator is motivated. Each morning, students come into the classroom expecting a teacher that is smiling & ready to begin a great day. Seeing the happy faces of the children should be enough motivation to complete anything, even the piles of papers waiting to be checked, graded, or filed! There is always work to be done, emails to be answered, and lessons to plan, but outstanding educators will do whatever it takes to create the best possible environment for their students to learn in each day.

He/she knows what is occurring in students' lives such as sports games & club meetings. Students learn new things about their teacher each day, & the classroom environment feels like a family. Involvement in home life is consistent & frequent as parents are updated through newsletters & blog posts. Report card conferences should never be the first time parents are hearing from the teacher.
An outstanding educator is warm & caring. Students know that they are able to confide in their teacher & consider him/her a role model. Teachers care deeply about each of their students & would do anything to protect them. An outstanding educator may almost be considered parent-like.
An outstanding educator is able to enforce discipline. Students know that they are cared for, but that the teacher holds the leadership role & should be adhered to & respected. Rules & expectations are set forth on the first day of school & are developed by both the teacher & students. Teachers should not over-discipline, just as they should not reward expected behaviors. Warnings are given, students are aware of their behavior status through a behavior chart in the classroom, & chances are given for students to redeem themselves & move out of a "warning zone." Each day is a blank slate for student

As I read these articles, I agreed with almost everything that was said. The Great Teacher Question: Beyond Competencies, by Edward R. Ducharme begins with a sentence that basically sums up my reason for teaching, “I begin this essay by defining a great teacher as one who influences others in positive ways so that their lives are forever altered” (Ducharme, 1991 p. 2). Over the course of a student’s education they will have many teachers, but there are maybe only one or two who are THE teacher. The teacher who impacts this child’s life in a positive way forever. The rest of the articles follow this same theme, suggesting ways that teachers can become THE teacher. One of the most important qualities I found in these articles (and one I

The videos embedded within the article gives a clear depiction of what a “good” teacher appears and acts like in front the classroom. These examples derive from actual teachers working with Teach for America illustrating a successful teacher and classroom. Although the Motivator, Tour Guide, Manager, and Connector are all great examples for teachers, current teachers should not epitomize and mimic one example but parallel all. I believe that a great teacher includes qualities from all four examples. Great teachers should not only be able to stimulate and induce an interest in learning but also engage with the projects and lessons, transcends discipline, and be able to incorporate modern ideas and experiences within the classroom. Becoming just the Motivator or just the Tour Guide will not have an effective education onto his or her classroom. But keep in mind, like the title states: what makes a great teacher? What makes him or her different from other teachers? And lastly, what are they doing different?
What is important in education today? She answered that one main concern of all teachers today is providing each of their students with the best educational program. To be compassionate about what their students are dealing with outside of school. Take the time to sit down with the student and talk to them, if there is an issue. Even though, the teacher and students schedules get occupied with the amount of work that needs to get done. There is still a way to reach out to a student or teacher if one of them is determined to do it can happen. Nowadays, it is easy to communicate between them both, so there should not be an excuse about not having the proper communication. Then, respect develops more between them. The teacher gives a clear act of respect toward the teacher; therefore, the student does the same for the teacher. There should not be special treatment or anything like that at all. All of these factors mentioned are descriptions of an effective teacher and good qualities that they must express while entering into the teaching profession; that is what makes a teacher

Each student should be encouraged to do their best and achieve goals that they may have never met before. Another good quality is, I believe a teacher should have is good communication skills.
