A degree in Football Business and Finance strongly appeals to me as it combines my interest in the business sector with my ultimate passion for the football industry. My invested interest in football goes beyond just attending the games as I have developed a further interest into how a football club is run and the business management and financial decisions that allow a club to establish itself in the UK and International market place. I am also curious about the process in which a club trades internationally and how to overcome issues such as boundaries created by differing currencies. As a devote football fan myself I know I will be at an advantage when trying to understand what it is that football fans want and how much influence they have over a club and the game, as through regularly attending football …show more content…
Playing for a football team throughout my whole life has allowed me to enhance my natural skills of being a team player and good communication in order to work well with others and get the best results, a concept I can transfer from playing football to studying and working in the football industry. Alongside my skills in being a team player and having good communication, I also possess efficient problem solving skills, which I know will help me in my studies and also enable me to advance in my future career in the football industry. Working for Gillingham Football Club has given me an insight into other ways in which a football club can generate more profit, for example in the hospitality sector offering exclusive executive suites for match sponsors and VIP experiences for devoted football fans, something which benefits both the club and the
The author covers the most prevalent groups and events relating to football. Some of them are pep rallies, marching band, cheerleaders / pep squads, spectators / ex-players, and the brains / farm kids / nobodies. The pep rally is a school-wide event,
Football has been a big part of my life ever since I was a little kid. I almost always tried to play football when I could with my brothers if they weren’t busy messing around. During recess in grade school my class would try to start a football game and I would be the first in to be picked on a team. My first time being on a “football team” was in little league my third grade year and I’ve never missed a year yet now that I am a senior in highschool and I’m hoping to continue it in college. Football made the person who I am today, it changed me in many ways and affected how I am as a person.
Football academies are environments in which promising footballers are trained and developed with the goal of becoming elite senior athletes (Crust, Nesti & Littlewood, 2010). English academies operate a dual sporting goal according to Isoard-Gautheur, Guillet-Ducas & Duda (2013), in which they aim to teach and help athlete’s master skills, but also have an obligation to ensure enough athletes break through into the senior team. Academies train athletes from the ages of 10 to 18 on a part time format, using elite coaches and elite competition between other academies to enhance their player’s ability (Crust, Nesti & Littlewood, 2010). Academies are very much utilised as a progressive filter, which begins with a large number of athletes at the youngest age, with progressively smaller numbers of athletes in each age group as age increases (Crust, Nesti & Littlewood, 2010). Whether an athlete is retained for the next year is subject to player evaluation by coaches and directors within the academy, thus requiring athletes to demonstrate competency as well as achieving success (Isoard-Gautheur, Guillet-Ducas & Duda, 2012; Crust, Nesti & Littlewood, 2010).

Being an athletic director seems like an amazing job because of the interaction with people and being around athletics. A lot of kids are involved in at least one sport, if not more, during their life time. Being an athletic director would give the opportunities for the kids to enjoy the sport or sports they are in by having an organized program and making it a good experience for them. An athletic director’s job is very important, they make sure every thing is in tact and organized. They make the schedules and let everyone know what is going on.
In assignment one, I said that I wanted to work for my favorite team, the Tennessee Titans, as their general manger. The general manager, in football, oversees both the football and business side of the team. He is in charge of bringing in new players and offering contracts to current ones; he is in charge of making sure the fans have a good time, while also making sure that the team is making a profit through the season. Because of all the duties the general manger is tasked with, I would probably use all three of the management principles discussed in chapter two. The Scientific Management theory states that there is a “best” way to do one job instead of multiple ways of doing this. I would use this theory more towards the football aspect
It may surprise you to know that, as a youngster, Tim was a superb football player and if it wasn't for pubs opening all day he may very well have turned professional. For two seasons I played along side Tim in defense for our local village side. He got me into the team and on my first game, said: ‘OK, Jason - here's how this works. You do all the heading and tackling and, when you get the ball, give it to me, I'll take it up the field and score.’ Tim finished up top scorer that season, netting twice as many as our centre forward. But we finished bottom of the league and conceded an average of eight goals a game. We once lost a game 22-1, and guess who scored our goal.
Football is a very famous and well-known sport all over the world. Fans go crazy about their favorite clubs and teams play as hard as they can to win the championship. What a lot of people do not talk about is the money aspect of football. Every year football clubs spend millions on buying and selling players, which is called transfers. Apart from that, the amounts of money clubs pay their players, as a salary is outrageous depending on the team. In many leagues, there is the firm belief that spending a lot of money on players leads to success. It is easy to pick out the teams that spend most money on their players since their wage bills are much higher than the rest when compared. Looking at the English Premier League, which consists of 20 different teams, one is able to see how much teams spend on their players. This brings up questions such as: how can we measure how worthy a player is and decide how much to pay them? Or, how do teams decide that a player is good enough? Why do players who seem to be just as good as others get paid so much more? These research questions are all very interesting, though what will be focused on is the relation between success and the amount of money spent on players’ salaries.
I want to pursue Sports Management because I want to have a career in the business of basketball and I believe NC State is the ideal university to prepare me for this. When I say business of basketball many people tend to look at me with a puzzled look. I am referring to working in the office of a professional sports organization or working inside a college basketball program.
It is a business in which owners and players attempt to coincide. It is a business where TV controls fan interest. It is also a business that affects many people's lives, both monetary and living aspects. There are many aspects that are involved in the economics of sport. Each one has unique qualities that add to the greatest source of entertainment.
From the early ages in history to the present day, sports have always been an important part of society. It teaches discipline, how to be a team player, how to interact with others and is a good source of physical activity. In specific, football utilizes all of these aspects of sports and it’s a great source of teaching self-restraint and perseverance. Some may say that football is a violent sport or it’s not beneficial in any way, but in reality it gives a person the basic tools needed not only for playing the game, but also how you interact with people in society.
Five or six kids who don't look old enough to remember a time before foreign managers at Anfield stand on tiptoes on the wall of the house opposite the entrance to the most famous training ground in English football. They've been here all day claims the steward manning the gates. Never mind the fact that their parents probably think they're in school, they're here, mobile phones poised at the ready, to snap Djibril Cisse leaving in his Hummer. Twenty yards away, leaning against another wall, are two men hoping to collect autographs from players who, with the exception of possibly Maurico Pellegrino, are probably younger than their sons.

The profession of a sport management professional has a very specific work description, requires specific schooling and training, and comes with a variety of benefits and disadvantages.
Introduction This essay will examine how money has changed the game of football in the UK. I have chosen this topic, as football is the most popular sport in the UK. According to Bond (2013), the numbers of fans that watch the games increased by 60% since the Division 1 has changed to EPL League. The changes that have taken place from around 1950 to the present day has been showing clearly. As there is more capital investment in the football games it creates a different kind of benefit to football games but at the same time, there are also a lot of drawbacks.
While sports for the spectators are merely entertainment, the economics of the industry are what drives businesses to become involved. Sports have become more of a business entity rather than an entertainment industry due to the strong economic perception of the over all industry. There are several instances in which economics may contribute to the effect on the sports industry, such as: the success of a team, the price of a ticket, the amount of money an athlete will make, and the amount of profit a team will make. The success of an...
