I’ve always had a knack for cosmetology. The before and after results, the experience, the opportunity to MEET new people, and especially the smiles and excited reactions on my clients’ face. Don’t get me wrong, the income expectancy is enticing as well, but to me it’s not about that. I just want to HELP make people happy and to feel better about themselves. My desired career is in the cosmetology field. I aspire to go to school for hair and barbering, then to become a nail technician and makeup artist. As a little girl, like any other, I would play in my dolls’ hair. What I came to realize is that I’m actually talented and good at what I do. In my elementary school years up to now, I’ve seen many males and females who unfortunately can’t do …show more content…
The school I want to go to is called Sam Verly, located in Atlanta, GA. This is the school my father attended to start off his career as a master barber. They teach you to cut hair and to style it which is a great combination. My intentions are to attend full time so I can finish within 9-10 months time. I plan to work in my father’s barber shop and save up to go to school to become a nail technician and makeup artist. After attending school for that, I will rent my own suite to run my salon/ barber shop out of and slowly but surely introduce my new trades into my business. Doing this for a few years will give me time to stack my money so I can, one day, ESTABLISH my own business just like my dad and pursue my own dreams. I plan on living big, I have to start with my education. Becoming a cosmetologist and barber like my father and aunt, would be a dream come true. Carrying out this family career would be WONDERFUL. As for pursuing a career in makeup and nails, I find it to be a very exciting trade and it will extend my skills and experience. Plus, the income won’t be half bad. The way I see it is if you do something you love you’ll do it for free with no problems or complaints; but if you can do what you love and make money, you hit the jackpot. I’m going to take the opportunity and run with

She also explained how “it was a shame that extension weren’t available during the Heian period when a Japanese woman’s beauty was judges by the length of her hair, since the ideal was considered almost two feet longer than her waist. That is one of the many reason I love this line of work, because when I do hair it lets me express myself while creating a hairstyle of my own. The first time I started doing hair was when I was about 10 or 11, I was a natural! I want to be able to know my clients and exactly what will look right on my clients and read people, so I would know what they do like just by talking to them. I need to learn to separate family from business. I do know some things about this field I before this assignment that cosmetology is not just about doing hair, it’s also about learning about the Skin; Doing make up, eye lashes, etc. You also learn about nails; doing a...

As a child, dreams of becoming something that often times are believed to be slightly out of reach, such as a pro athlete, or a rock star, or an actor are common. Adults tend to veer juveniles away from aspirations of pursuing these careers because the chance of success in one of those careers is quite
The career I have chosen for my future is to become a registered dental hygienist. It wasn’t until I actually learned what dental hygienists do that influenced my interest from medical to dentistry. The first honest reason I was gravitated to dental hygiene was because of the salary. I didn’t really know what Dental Hygienist actually did until I did some research.
When its time for a trim, a new style, cut, color, manicure, or makeover, almost everyone goes to their local salon to see a cosmetologist. What is a cosmetologist? It all began my freshman year of high school when I was told about elective classes that would help me decide what I wanted to be when I grew up. I always had a passion for doing hair, make-up, and nails so that was easy for me to choose an elective. My freshman and sophomore year I decided I would take cosmetology classes. I would spend two hours each day of school in the cosmetology lab, which was always cold and smelled like hairspray, burnt hair from the straighteners or a strong acetone smell that someone gets a whiff of at a nail salon. We learned so much material and I had a good time practicing my skills on manikins and other classmates. One thing I didn’t enjoy was the gossip and drama, but of course one would expect that from a class
Every since I was a child I have had a passion for doing other people’s hair. When I was little I would use my baby dolls as clients and work on their hair until it was perfect and neat. I have chosen to be in the cosmetology field because I like to help other people with their needs and wants as well as mine. I am aware that while working in this industry I will work with many different ethnic groups and many different hair types. I feel I can do anything as long as I have the determination to do so. Many people go to cosmetology school to work for someone else, but I would like to open up a mini-salon out of my own home someday.
Just because you are young or little does not mean you should stop following your dream. Just because you are a boy or girl does not mean you have to go into a certain career field. A company that is showing a good example of boys and girls choosing whatever career path they want is "Barbie." In "Forrest Gump" he was running away from bullies with his leg braces on and Jenny yelled "Run Forrest Run." His leg braces broke and he was running without them. Also in "Forrest Gump" Forrest followed his career path and some of his careers were football, shrimp fishing, and the army.
