His words sent a chill down her spine as she tried to imagine someone stealing her away it was a frightening thought indeed! Not because she feared being owned by someone else but because her life would be cut drastically short, if she was unable to get back to Wulf her death would be slow and painful as the poison began to take affect. She didn't want to even think about it! She wasn't going to let poison or anything else kill her until she had the chance to gut Jalal and toss his body into a pit of hungry puppers. " I highly doubt anyone would take so much of an interest in me that they would steal me.", she scoffed though the thoughts seemed to settle in the back of her mind. It was horrible that even she was starting to see her self as an object to be owned, it still crawled under her skin but she was starting to adjust to it. At least she was worth something to someone if they were willing to throw money away on her. …show more content…
"I'm sure I can find it just fine.
Thanks.", she called back to him knowing now that it was certainly time to ditch the pooch. When she felt she was a good ways ahead of him she glanced back over her shoulder only to see that he was trailing behind her, her heart dropped as a panic set in. All of the sudden she felt like a rabbit running from the big bad wolf. But this rabbit wasn't about to fall victim to such a beast! Internally cursing she needed to loose him, or at least force him to back off... but how? Her eyes landed on what appeared to be a large store of some sort, full of what looked like fancy plates and glasses just across the street. Surely he wouldn't do anything foolish if she went in
there! She darted through the traffic nearly getting hit a time or two before she reached the other side, pushing the doors open she would step inside. She took a deep breath trying to calm herself before looking up at the face of glaring vampire staring her down. She rolled her eyes at him before pushing through the store and past the man who protested, grabbing her arm with a tight grip. " Don't touch me!", she snapped as Instincts took over taking her knife from her side with her free arm and slicing the man across the face, forcing him to release her. She ran to the back of the store, pushing through a door she hoped would lead to the outside only to have it open up into a warehouse of sorts, full of glass goodies. " It's never that easy is it?", she hummed to herself quietly wiping the blood from her blade on her pants as she walked.
“Instinctively, with sudden overmastering passion, at at the sight of her helplessness and her grief, he stretched out his arms, and next, would have seized her and held her to him, protected her from every evil with his very life, his very heart’s blood… But pride
The Cessation of Puppy Mills How much is that doggy in the window? The one with the waggly tail? Well, if you know where that puppy came from, you may think twice about purchasing the canine. Puppy mills have been around for over fifty years. (Madonna Of the Mills)
I really enjoyed "Puppies, Dogs, and Blue Northers" by Gary Paulsen, because it was a story about his life. In the book Paulsen shows the true outdoors. He explains that he lives in northern Minnesota in a small house with his wife, Ruth and son, Jim. They have electricity but they do not have a television. In their small house the only heat source they have is a woodstove. Paulsen explains, that he is usually the first one to wake up and is consequently the person who has to get the morning fire started. He explains about his dog kennel he has. It is composed of all of his sled dogs that he raises. Paulsen is a sled dog racer and has raced in the Iditarod a few times. The story shows true friendship between Paulsen and his dog Cookie. This
A puppy mill is a place where people force dogs to reproduce in order to sell the pups to stores, people or anyone else who is willing to buy them so they can make money. Thousands of dogs are made each year by these mills, and because they make more dogs then they can sell an overpopulation of dogs begins to occur. A serious of conflict occurs from puppy mills. Since animals from stores are from breeding mills that means the mills are being supported to stay in business from anyone who buys a puppy from stores. Also since more people are buying from stores, less people are buying animals from a shelter therefore those animals have a higher chance of dying. Puppy mills also do not take care of the dogs whom are in their care. Some of the animals are abused very badly by these places. Female dogs are forced to reproduce every chance they can, and when they get to the point where they are physically no longer able to do so they get killed. There food is contaminated with algae or other bacteria that grows. (DoSomething.org) Also the living conditions they have the
So you want to adopt a puppy? Well there are two main places that your puppy could have been born. First, your puppy could have been born at a puppy mill. This is an inhumane, mass breeding location that can be very detrimental to your new pet. Another location that your puppy could have been born at is a breeder. This is a more humane location for your puppy to have been born. When adopting a puppy you should avoid going to a pet store because most pet stores receive their puppies from puppy mills; inhumane and overpopulated puppy breeding places.
Immediately this comes into effect as John says, "But...Between you and me, you understand?... Well, I wake in the night... and watch her dream... and sometimes her mouth even moves, just a little bit. It's like a whisper. I can never make that out. I don't know where she goes, in her dreams. I don't even know if I'm in them...I don't think I can bear losing her."
“John does not know how much I really suffer. He knows there is no reason to suffer, and that satisfies him."(162). She feels that she should be "a good girl" and appreciate the protective love John offers to her.
1. What type of issue is addressed? The wrong-doings of a large scale organization that breeds dogs. The advised action is to not buy dogs from puppy mills or any pet store. The speech also advises fines for animal cruelty be issued.
Schlictmann notified the U.S. Attorney, and a federal investigation began. Further discovery showed that a significant amount of chemicals had been disposed of directly into the ground. Schlictmann deposed John Riley, owner of the Riley Tannery, who denied using TCE and denied any knowledge of polluting the 15 acres of land around the factory. He failed to during his discovery that depositions of other towns people showed dumping had taken place for years on the 15 acres Riley owned, but Schlictmann was not able to uncover much of anything in terms of documentation or written evidence.

She must be at Lady’s house!”. Now, Lady is the neighbor dog and she lives about two blocks down the street... “And how do you think on getting there?” I think to myself. “Just walk! I can’t drive, so that’s the only way to get there!” I notice that talking to myself is wasting precious daylight. Now I’m walking down the ditch, scouring holes, tuffs of grass, and anything that resembles and dog. Finally, I reach the house where Shiloh is supposed to be at. To my surprise, I spot a little white tipped tail running around a tarp shed in the driveway. “Boy! Shiloh is a speedy little thing!” I say in my subconscious. I take off at full speed, trying to be as agile as possible, dodging mess and clutter around the yard. As I round the corner of the tarp shed, I turn behind me to see a ginormous German Shepherd chasing me like a fox chases a rabbit. With the little energy I have left, I push my little legs to the max in an attempt to escape this beast of a k-9. I fall just short of freedom. All I can do is lay there, hoping the ferocious dog is just coming over to my side to lick my cheek in a kind manner.I see something that is branded into my brain for the rest of my life; a big, furry, foaming at the mouth, vicious animal is jumping with its mouth wide open, right for my foot. I see its razor sharp fangs plunge into my foot, through my sock and leather shoe. “So this is how it ends!” I think as the dog tries to rip my foot off. As I scream bloody hell, my sight is in slow motion, back and forth, back and forth goes my limp leg in Lady’s mouth. The rest goes

In our lives today, dogs and cats are exceedingly valuable. They help calm people with anxiety, assist the sick and disordered, and aid the depressed. Although, thousands of years ago, dogs were domesticated by humans and put to useful tasks, such as, hunting, herding and guarding. Cats, however, were tamed for only one thing and that was to catch rodents. There might not be a lot about how they came to be, but hopefully that will change. Without cats and dogs in our lives things would be more challenging for most.
Dogs are magnificent creatures, and when raised correctly, are adorable, loyal, loving animals. However it takes a lot of time, energy, and commitment to make sure that dogs are raised correctly. These animals have a lot of the same requirements that a human child needs. They also act as a child would. A new dog owner would do well to consider these points before they take on the responsibility of raising one of these incredible creatures.
As a kid, I fell in love with the idea of getting a puppy for Christmas. Wrapped in a small box with a bow on top sitting under the tree just like the movies and tv shows I had seen. I can remember making a Christmas list of all the things I wanted that year, and every year the same thing that I wanted had said “puppy” with it underlined so that my mother knew which was my favorite on the list. Every year no surprise, I didn’t find a dog. I never understood why I never received one. When the kids at school talked about the few dogs they had at home made me so jealous, but I hoped that one day it would be me to have my own best friend at home.
