I feel that throughout the semester I have thoroughly worked on each of these goals. I enjoyed the vocabulary assignments and really has improved the way I write and speak. I also feel that because we had multiple speeches throughout the term, I was able to practice writing different outlines for different kinds of speeches. I finally feel comfortable writing any of speech and present it with confidence. This has truly helped me in my own self confidence and for that I am so grateful. For my future classes in college I will be able to present a project without getting anxiety, organizing my thoughts properly, and maintain good posture and eye contact with my audience. Before this class, I would freeze during speeches, forget what I planned on saying and used verbal fillers when I felt nervous. I would always ask to present my project last in order to calm my nerves. However, during this semester I really tried to take myself out of my comfort zone in order to really work on my goals for this semester. This semester I tried to almost always raise my hand to present my speech first even if I felt uncomfortable. I tried to always stand straight and force myself to look at the audience and “fake it until I make it.” I feel that Amy Cuddy 's advice really worked for me. After reviewing my speeches back to back, I realized that my public speaking skills have evolved dramatically. While I would like to have changes to my projects if I had the ability to time travel, but overall I am more than satisfied with my progression in public speaking. My level of listenability is still not flawless, but with some more practice and time I am confident that I could become a decent public speaker. This is necessary to sell products and perform services that benefit the customer. The value of getting the job done correctly and on time correlates to returning customers and repeat business. My competitive advantage over others in the same industry is the high level of service we offer. I don’t just push a product on a client. I listen to what they want and need, make suggestions for the best available solutions; and I also help them with cost savings and environmentally friendly alternatives. One weakness I have and need to work on is public speaking. As I grow in my career and move into managerial leader positions, I will have a lot more opportunities to give speeches. I plan to work on my public speaking skills by practicing and making incremental changes to constantly improve. It’s not a matter of being shy in front of a group. I could have tried to make ti so that when I was done I could have tied the whole analogy together and made it connect to all the skills that I said I have improved on. For showing my progress as a learner I think the way that I presented was one of the main things that showed some of my progress making it so that you could actually here me when I was giving my presentation which is something that has always been a problem when I have to talk in front of people. I also think that even though at the end of my presentation I didn’t obviously say my over all opinion about how I have improved I thought my evidence that I had given through out the presentation worked well with the points that I was trying to say I improved on. Along with making sure that what I was comparing it to was very specific so that people didn’t start to think of another part of the project that I was using that I might to have improved on confusing them. Over all I think that my POL compared to others was not to bad. I think for sure that I did better then last year because of how I presented this time
Making a successful public presentation or speech to an audience was a very big task for me before I joined the public speaking class. I was always frightened and very nervous. Since then I now understand the process of making a speech or a presentation including coming up with a topic and from this topic develop the main points of the speech, research, organize my points, revise them, edit and make a magnificent presentation to any audience. People in the audience might sometimes agree or disagree with my opinion or points, it was therefore necessary to communicate my information clearly to the audience without making any judgments since every person was entitled to a different opinion and views about things.

I think that a communications class like public speaking, for example, should be not just for a college class, but taught in high school and middle school as well. I believe several classes would allow anyone to become an expert speaking. The only way to fully learn public speaking is to get up in front of people and talk to them. This speech did not make me nervous nor did it stress me out. I felt comfortable talking about color blindness because I had a good understanding of what it was, making it super easy to talk about. In concepts of publicly speaking there’s, relaxation, practice, credibility, attention getters, attire, organization, volume, emotion, audience relation, and movement. In my first speech, “The any old bag speech” I quickly learned the do’s, don’ts and concepts of my speech performance.
As I mentioned earlier, I am not a huge fan of electronic means of communication and I prefer the direct interactions. Despite this difficulty, I found it well prepared and structured. It gives a brief insight in communication and basic information about public speaking and delivering the information to the audience. It is unfortunate however, that the course on public speaking do not learn the students any skills on how to train your focus, your attention, how to raise and control your voice, how to deal with the stress, how to break through our own personal barriers which interfere with the successful delivery of the presentation. I do not feel that I need much more work to be at least good in doing my presentations, but there were students left on their own with some issues which were not addressed.
