Changes are always made for the better to help improve schools, countries and organizations. This was what the Global Learning Charter Public School (G. L. C. P. S.) has done to the student Handbook from the years 2015-2016 (Document 1) to 2016-2017 (Document 2), in order to improve the school community. Recently the school has added gym attire but, it was only to be used on the days students had physical education. Later on, the gym attire rule changed, giving the high school students more privileges. When looking at both documents, it is noticeable that Document 2 was printed in a smaller font size. School hours have also changed, now having an additional ten minutes added to the schedule. In order to improve G. L. C. P. S. has modified the student handbook, to solve the problems that had happened in the past.
During the past year, there have been changes in the gym attire which was was made by the school administrator. Gym attire was once only to be used on days students had physical education, later on altered to only middle school. In Document 1, it states that “Students may wear GLCPS wind breakers and GLCPS wind breakers pants to school only on the days they have physical education” (38). Document 1 states “8:30 a.m. students must be in the their homerooms.” (16). The quote states students should be in their homeroom by 8:30 a.m. but the document 2 states otherwise. “8:25 a.m. students must be in their homeroom.” (14). There's been a ten minute change of when it is time to go to homeroom and the other five minutes is from the time change in dismissal. At the time “2:55pm students are dismissed.” according to Document 1 (16). While in Document 2, at the time “3:00 students are dismissed.” (14). From 1754-1763, Britain fought the French and Indian war. Although Britain had won the war, they still had a lot of war debts to pay off. Britain turned to the colonies to pay off their debts by taxing them. The taxes angered the colonists because they believed it violated their rights. Benjamin Franklin had initially proposed the Albany plan of Union to unite the colonies, however this law was rejected by all of the colonial governments. It wasn't until after all of the British laws and taxes that the colonies would unite and write the Declaration of Independence.
During the 1700’s the Britain Colonist decided to declare war against Great Britain. The war began due to friction between the British colonists over the King's policies. The colonist eventually lost their patience and started a revolution. High taxes, and no religious freedom led the colonist to fight for self government.
Beginning of the 15th and 16th centuries, Europeans began to explore in the Atlantic Coast of Africa. They were mainly lured into the excessive trade in gold, spices and other goods without knowing about slaves in Africa. Nonetheless, Europeans had no success of taking over these African states to achieve all of these goods but later they did take over various regions in other areas. Africans seems to be willing to sell as many as 11 million people to the Atlantic slave trade to the Europeans. Thus, this makes them the first people to have slaves not the Europeans that forced them into this trade. Furthermore, at the start the Africans seems to have full control of the slave trade, but the Europeans came in and slowly dominated the trade without the Africans knowing. Later on, the trade was overturned and everything went back orderly.
The 1960s was a period well remembered for all the civil rights movements that occurred during that time frame and the impact these movements had on the social and political dynamics of the United States. The three largest movements that were striving in the 1960s were the African American civil rights movement, the New Left movement and the feminist movement. These three movements were in a lot of ways influenced by each other and were very similar in terms of their goals and strategies. Over the fashion clothes, students do not need to compare each other for the famous brands. They don’t need to think what to wear every day. However, some of the parents still think it did not have their child individual’s right and support the uniform policy. People do not notice that school uniform is a lot more convenient than having the dress code policy. Even the courts are more support the school uniform than dress code policy. The dress code policy has a lot of rules to obey in contrast the uniform just have to wear what kind clothes schools provide. When most people think of changes that have occurred over a period of fifteen years, they think of changes for the better. Unfortunately, in some situations the circumstances are different. I have attended Bayou Academy for fifteen years. As I look back on my years here, I notice the changes our school has undergone. When I was in elementary school, petty rules were not a big ordeal. As I near the end of my senior year, petty rules are the only thing that is talked about at Bayou. The school has decided to make major changes within the cafeteria, textbooks, and our everyday classroom rules. The decisions that have been made affect students throughout their every day lives and hinder them from having a pleasurable experience at school.
