The story “Nightwalk” by Aleem Hossain Is about someone who is struggling with low self-esteem. He and his friend go to the supermarket, and there the narrator shows many signs of mental illness. At the end of the story, the narrator exhibit signs of self-harm. It is clear that the narrator has depression. However, I believe that in the narrator's case, he has developed psychosis as well. Psychosis is when individuals lose touch with reality, and cannot differentiate between reality and fantasy. The narrator shows many symptoms of psychosis throughout the story. In “Nightwalk,” the narrator displays many symptoms of psychosis including isolation from their community and hallucinations. As the narrator takes a walk down the street, he states,
