In the past I have experienced other internships that were not directly related to psychology, but gained beneficial skills that are transferrable and applicable to my psychology education. However, my goal is to explore career interests within the realm of psychology, and this internship provides a mean for doing just that. It offers me the opportunity to immerse myself in psychology through a different perspective and experience how the theories that I have learned in the classroom are applied in the real world beyond the physical boundaries of the classroom walls. This internship will challenge me to broaden my view of psychology, envision myself as a psychologist and assess if consulting psychology is the right fit for me. I believe my St. Olaf psychology education has granted me the knowledge and skills that i need to enrich my internship experience and has also prepared me for the further learning experience that I am sure to gain from this internship. Most importantly, this internship offers me the opportunity to turn my knowledge and understanding of psychology into an
I can gain hands on experience interning in governmental agencies and courtrooms, assisting forensic psychologists with referral materials and conducting research in the fields of law and psychology. Over the next two years, I will work towards completing 3,000 hours of post licensure internship while continuing my education in a doctoral program. After completing the doctoral program, I would like to hold dual licensure as a professional counselor and psychologist. In the next 10 years, I would like to work at the collegiate level as an educator in psychology and/or counseling. My ultimate career goal is to operate a program for at risk men and women ages 18 to 25. The program I hope to create will focus on the transition to independence process (TIP) model. My focus will be to provide psychological services for young people who are aging out of foster care, have a juvenile record, or are teen parents. The process of entering adulthood is often difficult, especially for those who struggled through their adolescent years like my
Basically saying that yes psychology is more than a clinic or office career but there is also an entire “exotic” field of psychology with different travel opportunities. Different types of traveling psychologists include; military, sports, environmental, forensics, circus, NASA, google, filmmakers, traffic, and etc. (“while the traditional image of a psychologist may be someone stuck behind a desk all day seeing patient after patient, in reality, many psychology careers offer frequent travel. In many cases a patient wont visit them the psychologists visits the patient, some even travel overseas”). While everyone assume it is a boring desk job it can simply become an opportunity to travel and do what you love, helping people mentally and emotionally. With that being said psychologists have many different fields, and just because it seems unentertaining look into all the other options, each year hundreds of thousands of undergraduates decide to become psychology majors, along the way they gain a greater knowledge of all the fields and branches in psychology. With plenty of education and experience comes the opportunity to advance in your
When I entered my first year of college, I decided to pursue psychology as a major because I was interested in how people’s minds affect how they behave and their personalities. Despite not taking psychology classes in high school, I had a pretty good experience in knowing what was going on around my friends by observing their behavior, the tone in their voice, or actions, and I’ve learned to develop skills in offering good advice to them. It seemed useful to apply my skills to academics. However, I aspired to be more than just a regular psychologist. I wanted to find a deeper, interesting, and creative method that can help people who suffered personal issues, such as relationships and disorders.

PERSONAL STATEMENT “Curiosity, intellectual thinking, challenge, and humanity” All these are values that Medicine and I share. And that’s why I don’t know whether I chose Medicine or Medicine has chosen me. Since my early years in the school I wanted to be a doctor; because I have always seen in the medicine the utmost glory that a human can reach. It’s the field that makes you always think to have more knowledge, to heal patients better, and to make their illnesses just a memory or slight detail in their life.
