One of my favorite subjects would be any laboratory science such as biology, advanced biology anatomy and such. This subject has led me to thinking many things about the human mind and the body and how we have evolved to be who we are know. The subject has let my mind think outside the box and hypothesized about different subjects. Laboratory science has allowed me to explore deeper indie the humans mind as well s the body .as well as how we react to different situations. It has made me think how we all have evolved through all these years ,and how we are able to come up with new ideas an be able to have a solutions to the questions that we have.
This has inspired me in many ways, one of them would my choice of career. I pursue being a psychologist
When my first grade teacher asked me what I wanted to be in the future I told her, “I want to be a doctor.” My answer stayed exactly the same when my eleventh grade English teacher asked the question. Ever since I was little science has always captured my interest. I was fascinated by the way our body worked and how everything had an explanation behind it.
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
Please discuss the following items in the order given. Briefly respond to all areas listed.
Whoosh!A bed whizzed by, surrounded by about 6 medical personnel. “What’s going on?” I thought immediately with apprehension. I knew whatever was happening it was not ideal. Ensuring I was not in the way, I stood on my toes to see what demanded so much attention. To my astonishment, I saw a coin sized hot-pink little girl. She could not have been bigger than two quarters lying side by side. She was struggling! Even with all the procedures the doctors were executing to save her life, she was performing the most work.
Interacting with my professors as a teacher's assistant and research assistant gave me a chance to discover at a more personal level what psychology is all about. Although I am seeking a M.A. in General Psychology at this time, I do have specific goals for my future. I hope to continue my education past the M.A. and receive a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, counseling individuals and eventually acquiring a teaching position with a college or university.
Have you ever lost yourself or become addicted to something attractive? Many students will answer that they were addicted to video gaming, gambling, or watching TV series. However, for me, the most attractive thing is solving puzzles and discovering unknown mysteries. Solving Sudoku puzzles is my favorite because I have to think about multiple possibilities carefully and speculate the correct solutions. After considering problems comprehensively and figuring out the answers easily by following the logic, a sense of accomplishment will make me happy for awhile. I have the same feeling when playing puzzles as solving computer science problems, so I would like to be a programmer or a game designer in the future. When I was playing League of Legends for the first time, I was wondering how the system could download and upload huge amount of game data in a second so that the nationwide players could enjoy the games without lag. This question brought me into the amazing world of computer science.
I converted from a marine science major to both chemistry and biology due to the lull these two fields hold over me. My classes have only deepened my passion for these fields, and I hope to one-day study biomedical research. My classes in cell and molecular biology and organic chemistry drew a great interest for me. I enjoy studying how different chemicals work and how the react with the human body. Since I was young, I have always been interested in the medical field and have wanted to help people.
My interest persisted and grew as I began to see how my efforts had the ability to improve the lives of people around me. I first noticed this on a personal level as friends would come to me for advice or for me to listen to their struggles and provide comfort. No matter how mundane, horrific, unique, or common the story was, I listened to them in a genuine and non-judgmental manner. I truly enjoyed hearing people’s stories and providing comfort and advice when needed. These moments helped me realize the power of simply being there for someone, and it increased my interest of pursuing a career where I can support those who need it most. I want to become a social worker so I can provide direction to those who may not be able to get it from other sources, just like I have done for various people throughout my life.
What inspired me to pursue a career in counseling stems from past negative actions I participated in as a young adult. After living a life on the edge, engaging in risky behaviors which turned me into someone who was easy to despise. Fortunately, this eventually caused me to seek treatment to address challenges in my own life. This led me to begin working with other people who are afflicted with addiction problems through a twelve step program. This is what first sparked my interest in being helpful and of service to others. Not wanting to be limited to just working with people with addictions or court ordered for alcohol classes because they got a DUI. When I made the decision to pursue a career change and go into counseling instead of just
At the end of school, I knew I had a fascination with biomedical science. This meant me choosing biology, maths, and Pe as a levels so I can learn more about topics that intrigue me .Biology has helped develop scientific and experimental skills through practical work and has given me an insight into topics like genetics and biochemistry. Maths has helped me with collecting and analyzing data and has helped me develop logical problem-solving skills P.e has helped me understand the basic human anatomy and has given me an insight of how the body works together to function.
Ever since I was in middle school I was fascinated by the world of psychology. The thought of being able to get into someone’s mind by merely speaking them through it intrigued me terribly and I was just so amazed by all of the different areas of it I didn’t know for a couple of years what I wanted to do in that field specifically, but I knew I was meant to be a psychologist of some sorts. I knew I was meant to help people with their mental issues and illnesses in the way I was helped which eventually led me to clinical psychology. “Clinical psychology is the branch of psychology concerned with the assessment and treatment of mental illness, abnormal behavior and psychiatric problems.” (Cherry, Kendra. "Clinical Psychology - What Is Clinical Psychology”) To sum it up, a clinical psychologist is someone who diagnoses people to help them find out what issue they have mentally; like how a doctor would diagnose a patient with a physical disease I would be helping a patient with their mental ailment. To do this I will have to go through many years of schooling but I know in the end it will be worth it if I can have a worthwhile career such as this one.
From the first moment I wore my white coat, I planned a career that created meaningful connections, provided an intellectually stimulating environment, and an openness for creativity. It is for these reasons I believe psychiatry is an ideal field of medicine. Creating a climate of communication for a diverse group of patients accomplishes my goals as a physician.
My tenacious question of how drove me through both undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology. It drives me now to become a contributor to the body of cognitive research, not simply a consumer. I intend to begin that contribution next fall at the University of Minnesota, with the ultimate goal of attaining a research and teaching position at a university. Just as Bill Nye
The definition of psychology is as follows: “The scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context.”(Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, 1828) There are many fields of psychology an individual can go into, whether its clinical, forensic, or otherwise Psychology is a very broad field of scientific study that affects many aspects of our lives. There are people who study this science in schools, hospitals, private practices and more. This science also interests me as well. I have already taken psychology in my junior year, and I am currently taking AP psychology in order to gain some credits for college. The study fascinates me; the reason being that it explains our behavior and what makes us different from any other species on this planet. It goes in-depth of the analysis of humans’ greatest accomplishments and lowest behaviors. It turns our
My favorite area of science is definitely Zoology because it has to do with animals and they are my passion.
