Ever since I came to know about psychology, my fascination for the subject has only grown and intensified. So, I did not think twice when I chose to do a major in psychology. So began my journey to becoming a psychologist. After hours of research and writing multiple college essays, I found the best suitable match. However, before coming to Monash, I had seven spare months. I decided to work part-time as a mentor at IQ development centre. It involved interacting with kids and guiding them towards a direction of intellectual development and mindfulness. These seven months passed away in the blink of an eye. It is the most fun day of the year. We also had to put up an entertainment filled stage show for other students and teachers. I love to dance. For years I saw my seniors organise and perform, and I would just imagine how I would do if I were to take up such opportunity. After years of holding back, that year I decided to perform. I decided to step up and showcase my talents and be who I really want to be. I summoned all of my dancer friends and decided upon the song. I orchestrated our dance routine and showed it to them. There were speed bumps in our way, but we never let that mess our confidence. Finally arrived the most awaited day, we executed our piece with utmost grace and passion. The applaud and praise augmented my self-esteem and made me happy from inside. I couldn't believe that what I once imagined myself to do could turn to reality. It was enthralling, and I was proud of myself and my mates! That day I understood that leadership isn't just a position of power and control, rather I believe it is an environment that fosters productivity, positivity and a space to strengthen interpersonal bonds to achieve a shared goal.
