In attempt to explain why abuse happens, many theories have been raised giving different insights on why people cause harm to themselves and others. It is important to understand not one theory does not explain the all motive why harm happens, given to our human complexity most of the times we will use different theories to explain one action. Socio-biological theories - according to this theory natural instinct explains much of our behaviour. Psychodynamic Theories – rooted in Freud’s Dynamic theory, psychodynamic theories explain that parents that cause harm to their children have themselves not achieved all the development stages, therefore having unfulfilled needs of their own. Attachment and Bonding Theories – according to Bowlby theory
