Some hide their culture and identity from others in order to preserve others and to fit in with others. Suppressing their identity and a shell of who they truly are. Moving into a new environment is difficult for many people, especially immigrants, balancing their culture with the new culture that they are coming into, so they can survive in a new land. Everyone’s culture is different, and where they come from is different. People have different ideas that make up their worldview and identity, making them unique. Life is harder for them because they don’t know anything about American culture and that is why it will be hard for them because all they know is their culture, not American

People try to put on a facade in order to make themselves look better and appease others, but putting on the mask suppresses who people truly are. They aren’t truly themselves when they put on the mask, their culture and identity is suppressed because they want to fit in with others instead of being bold and showing their true selves.
