Most people would not see prostitution as the goal career of choice. However, prostitution has been an active career for decades. People have different opinions about how prostitution affects women. In this essay, I am going to talk about two articles. One of the articles is in favor of prostitution while the article is against it. One of the articles is “Prostitution Can Benefit Women” written by Veronica Monet. Usually, when people think about prostitution they picture it as it has been portrayed in movies. This could mean people will do it secretly and it will be no point in making it legal because it will still be done quietly. Having rules to control prostitution would hopefully cut down on the abuse and drug use that happens and prevent young girls and boys from being involved. Depending on who you ask, prostitution could be considered empowering to women or degrading to women. I found it interesting that the woman who wrote the article that said prostitution benefits women participated in prostitution herself and the woman who wrote the article that says it demeans women noted that she doesn’t know any sex workers
