Pros And Cons Of World War 1 Trenches

What was World War 1 about people might ask, well World War 1 was a massive war between many countries which were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria these countries fought Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States for central powers.Throughout this war there were many factors built and made from the benefits of this war, but like when there are pros in a situation there are also cons.In addition to,some pros from World War 1 were new weapons such as the poison gas,rifles,machine guns,flamethrowers,etc.,new developments were tanks like for example the mark 5 tanks,aircrafts were used to receive an advantage during battles.Furthermore,a con is that we lost numerous people from all sides the

total number of people that died in World War 1 were 37 million people, and people who did make it out alive from World War 1 either lived with injuries or faced critical damage towards their bodies.Additionally,thanks to this war we know most of the techniques they used, whether it's on the battlefield or in a medical way it brought benefits towards our society we live in today.

In addition to the topic, I did more research on and my opinion on this topic was very interesting to learn about which are the trenches.The trenches were a long narrow ditch which was used for battle and is where most battles took place.Additionally,the trenches were built by the soldiers to gain territory and to claim territory when battle were going on between the two countries.Not to mention,the trenches were smelly,dirty,and filled with all types of diseases that were passed from one soldier to another, then there was a fifty fifty chance of them living with the disease.Equally important,the trenches were enormous they were 2,490km all combine.Not only the trenches were structured was more like a maze but also it was trials leading in different directs and on top of the trenches surrounding the trenches at least there were barbed wire so it was able to keep enemies out of the territory they already claimed.As, the enemies were so close to each other the attacks were often made during the night the soldiers would cut the wire to get into enemy territory so they were able to have an advantage of them more like an element of surprise.Furthermore,due to this soldier didn’t obtain much sleep since they were required be on the lookout for any attack so if anything they had naps during the afternoon daylight.Furthermore,let’s talk about “No Man’s Land” this is the term soldiers used for the ground that was in between the opposite side of the enemy.It was also where you found

large amounts of bodies died due to previous attacks that happened.Equally important,some of the disease found were trench fever and trench foot.Trench foot was due to them walking in the trenches when it rained because when it rained the trenches would get flooded with water and it caused terrible conditions to the soldiers feet.Furthermore,trench fever was caused by the lice that was found in the trenches the lice came from the rats that were found in the trenches and the reason the rats were in the trenches is because of the soldiers food half of their food was gone due to the rats eating it.In addition to,the lice was passed on from soldier to soldier so if you had it , it was most likely going to come back.Finally,as you can notice it was not easy being in the trenches, it was a brutal struggle for the soldiers since of all the conditions they have to go through which was absolutely miserable and you have got to give credit to these soldiers that fought in the war no matter what side since they had the guts to push themselves in the trenches and maybe come out alive.It was not an easy task to do so to that we have got to pay respect for the sacrifices these men had to make during this time they lived in.
