I don’t think we are truly, fully aware of the collective damage that social media is doing to our nerves and relationships with one another. We only show the good stuff, because we want to feel valuable. We want to feel important. We want to be respected. We want to fit in and stand out, at the same time. See you are not alone because most of us don’t, but we should really start. One day I was on Facebook reading statuses, checking out recently updated photos when I received a notification from who I assumed to be my best friend. The notification said you have an invite to a small private gathering on May 28,2016 @8:00 pm. What’s so weird about the entire situation is because my friend birthday is May 25. My friend never mentioned to me anything about having a private gathering. I called her and asked about the invite she had no idea what I was talking about. Someone had stolen her profile picture, name, D.O.B, and state of residence. We googled the location and it turned out to be an abandon warehouse. I’m not sure what the person intentions were but it could have ended badly or it could have been just a prank. There are plenty of stories like this a prime example would be Catfish. Catfish is a show that comes on MTV once a week where people meet people online fall in love and find out the person is not who they claim to be or portraying to be. We need to stop thinking just because our profiles are private that people can’t steal our pictures or information because that’s the farthest statement from the
