Should national service become mandatory for all Americans? There are many reasons to support mandatory national service, but just like everything with a pro there will be some cons. To begin with one pro is you have between the ages of 18-30 years old to complete just one year of national service. Another benefit to mandatory national service is the government will pay for the whole year of living expenses. To many Americans now a days who face poverty this is a huge benefit. Also noting, that you arent required to just service at a local level, you have the choice between a local level, a national level, or a military level. So you could help a community after a major disaster, or those in the military could serve our country for
just one year. Think about how much we could benefit, from the extra people serving in the military, even if it is only for a year. More benefits that come from national service is it could come with some health benefits, such as lowered blood pressure, and reduced stress. It has been reported by some volunteers that, they felt more confident being put in new situations. They also stated, that they had discovered unknown interests or skills that they enjoy. It also brings people a sense of fulfillment, and a better understading of peoples lives. Just as any pro, there are some cons that follow. People feel like mandatory national service might turn ones generosity into an obligation, and that it goes against our constitutional rights. Some also feel as if it underminds the value of those who volunteer regularly. Also, people who dont volunteer, may not put forth the same loving effort as someone who volunteers regularly. How can the government ensure that people have completed their mandatory services? Will it drain the finaces of charities and governmant orginaizatins? Will the living expenses be enough for everyone who completes their service? The only way to find out is to try. In my opinion national service should be mandatory for Americans. There are more pros that could come from this than there are cons. Mandatory national service could be what this country needs.
The draft is something young men fear and crave. Some fear they will lose everything, die or just not be the same if they get picked. I have met young men who cannot be in the military due to family issues, so the draft would come as a blessing. The draft is also very random, so both of those boys' chances of getting picked is also very slim. The draft reminds me of The Reaping from The Hunger Games, we pick your name out of a bowl and the magic of selection will decide if you go or not. Then your skill set will determine how long you live in battle. May the odds be ever in your favor, and don't forget that you're and accountant and have no hand-eye coordination! There are plenty of volunteers in America that will gladly serve our country if we need more soldiers, I personally think the wars have past their expiration date, and there are other jobs people can do
From the War of Independence to Desert Storm, the soldiers have served with great honor.... ... middle of paper ... ... The Army National Guard is a great place to learn a skill, get paid for it, and get ahead.
Every American is Free, and because of many others, are safe. They are able to lay their head down on a pillow and go to sleep knowing that they aren’t going to be shot by soldiers of a different country in their sleep. They don’t have to hide inside their houses and watch fighter vehicles crawl by and wonder if they are going to live to see the sun rise the next day. They are safe because there are men and women over in different countries killing those that threaten our existence. If there was ever a debate about reinstating the draft, I think the answer would be yes, do it because there would be that many more people fighting to keep us safe, those that maybe debated it before would go through with it, and the troubled teens that rebel against
...e unnecessary moneymakers, products of lies and deception behind the scenes, orchestrated by powerful and rich men who usually never suffer but, rather, gain from their machinations to create war. I support a National Service Obligation system that would draft all persons, at age 18, to serve for 18 months in some form of public service. This would allow American citizens to contribute to the country in different ways. But it should be one?s own decision how to contribute to the country. As said before, I believe that reinstating the military draft will not increase patriotism or a sense of duty, but will rather decrease the effectiveness of the military and will create huge protest feeling among country?s citizens. Therefore we should explore every possible way to contribute the country?s future instead of just putting our future and ourselves in the Meat Grinder.
The only group of people that have ever felt a sense of belonging in the modernized United States are Caucasian people. Why? It’s not that they owned the land, or rightfully claimed it. No, it’s because their ancestors have used influence and power to take what they greedily lusted for. To make their stolen country succeed, they forcibly enlisted several slaves, and used the people they invited, to keep their iron fist credible. If the people could not rely on the government to feel protected, entitled, and successful, then they would combine forces to seek other forms of management. Similar to the formation of the Americas, and the Civil War, when the South’s protection (the possession of slaves to promote their economic success) was threatened.
These men would register with the Selective Service therefore they could be found easily in a time of need. The draft required these young men to sign up to serve their country involuntarily because it was to benefit the country, to make it easier
Regarding the United States draft, poet Robert Frost once said, “Pressed into service means pressed out of shape.”
“First, conscription doesn’t save much cash. It costs money to manage and enforce a draft- history demonstrates that not every inductee would go quietly. Conscripts serve shorter terms and reenlist less frequently, increasing turnover, which is expensive. And unless the government instituted a Czarist lifetime draft, everyone beyond the first ranks would continue to expect to be paid” (Forbes). Even though “The military not only provides training in a range of specialties; it also offers educational benefits for veterans-- including many from underprivileged back grounds-- that might not be available under a mandatory
Should the Flu Shot Be Mandatory? Vaccines have been proclaimed by many people as one of the miracles of modern medicine. Vaccines are credited with saving thousands of lives and wiping out many contagious diseases. Recently, there has been a tremendous debate whether annual influenza vaccines should be mandatory. Influenza vaccines should be voluntary because people have the right to examine data on vaccinations and make their own informed decisions.
Considering the delegates that are currently running for office, a voter should have a vast level of understanding regarding the intentions of each and every candidate. Arguing whether to raise or lower the age limit for the right to vote has raised many speculations as to how it would affect the economy. There are pros and cons within both sides of the argument, but any decisions made by the powers that be will have an adverse effect on today’s society if it is placed in the hands of the younger generation. Therefore, raising the voting age to twenty-one is a better way of making sure that voters are more aware and would be more equipped to making a more sound decision rather than lowering
The benefits of having a military draft are obvious. We need soldiers to fight and not every citizen is willingly going to do so, so unfortunately there have been times where the people had to be forced to fight. Many people find that this whole concept of a draft is a horrible idea. The basis of this country is that everyone is free to do whatever he or she want and to not do whatever they don’t want. You can express free religion and freedom of speech, and you can even criticize the president strongly, but then out of the blue, it is not your choice whether or not you go to war? It is confusing to think that with all these freedoms, there would still be a draft for so many years. Truthfully, it lacks consi...
Congress should pass the Mandatory Military Service Act into effect immediately. The major issues that the Mandatory Military Service Act will resolve the following issue: College enrollment, national security, personal health and, unemployment
Going into the military isn’t all bad because you can learn all the stuff that American soldiers go through to protect America. We could learn not to take what they do lightly or for granted. Being in the military could be helpful if another country ever decided to try to invade America. No other country would want to invade a country where every man or woman that is there is trained for almost any situation. Not that many people would worry about break-ins or someone mugging them in an alley if everyone had discipline. There's no reason as to why able men and woman shouldn't be obliged to serve their country in times of warfare crisis and/or be prepared for hypothetical wartime. Not only that, but it provides a great amount of benefits, such as: physical conditioning, mental toughening and a chance to help promote equality between young men and women. There are so many immature, feeble-minded, snobbish people in the US nowadays who need to be taught a lesson or two
Mandatory military service is a course to make a fit and capable citizen. First of all, military service can help one's character . More specifically it gives good tools so that people can work well in a team, be more organized in everyday event and good discipline. Secondly, it can offer education to people in need. Furthermore it will help people in bad neighbourhoods or is living trough a thought time and give those without the means to be in a home and have a job. Thirdly but not least mandatory military service could be looked at as a dept owed to one's country, loved ones who are protected if ever needed and most important to our right to democracy.
Most people have, at one point or another, considered what they were going to do with their lives. Whether a person would like to become an activist, an artisan or a business professional, the military has something for everyone. Finding a path in life is often filled with uncertainty and procrastination. The United States military is a path in itself, should one wish to retire from it; however, should a person wish to make their own path, there are benefits for that as well that can remove all doubt and curb procrastination. Due to these many benefits, I believe that it should be mandatory for all adults to enlist for a minimum of twenty-four months.
