In the 21st century, people face many diseases and problems that they cannot simply solve even with the technological developments that they have today. One of the most common transplantations in the United States is the kidney transplant. This is mainly because of the high demands of organs for renal disease patients with such short supplies. Since 2008, the worldwide illegal organ sales have increased dramatically. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there were approximately 107,000 donated organs worldwide in 2010; 10% of the number was from the black market. By reading the article “Why Legalizing Organ Sales Would Save Lives, End Violence,” there are millions of people who suffer from kidney disease, but there were only 64,606 kidney transplants in 2007 worldwide. With people suffering with kidney failure and diseases it could be wise that we should legalize kidney sales in order to perform safe and regulated kidney transplants rather than having it in the black market where many donors suffer from doing so. The article tells us that having the government regulate safe and moral kidney sales would actually help both sides financially and morally. That bringing the market into the open would be the best way for trades since the government can easily track how and where the kidney came from in the beginning. Also, not only it would save lives, but also it could actually end violence that comes from kidnaps of donors for the black market sellers. In Iran kidney sales are actually legal and it actually helped in Iran in solving kidney shortage problem the country was facing at that time. It could actually be better for people to make their own choice whether or not the person wants to donate or sell their own kidney
