This does not account for all over the world, but only in the United States (Ahrens). Cars require the correct fuel to function. Similarly, people need the proper fuel for their bodies. When they eat, their body uses the nutrients it pulls from the food, to fuel their body. Their body needs certain foods in order to function, Just like how a car needs certain kinds of fuel. Humans need to eat a healthy diet, in order to run in tip-top shape. It will damage a car if diesel is used in a gasoline engine (“Accidentally Putting Diesel in a Gas Car”). In the same way it will be harmful if they eat too much of one food or junk food. Cheap repairs are awful for cars in the same way junk food may be convenient, but it is not healthy. When people go on short-term diets, they cut out high calorie nutritious foods,and eat nutritious low calorie replacements. These foods will help them cut down on calories, but will also cut out important nutrients. People not only need to learn what to leave out of their diet, they also need to learn how to replace the vitamins and nutrients. Automobiles play a major role in today's society. Almost every American owns at least one motorized transportation vehicle. Some say they make our lives better by reaching places faster than before. Others say they are a harmful to the environment. Have they made our society better or worse? They may be fast, but do we as humans want our environment to suffer because of time. Nutrition is a very controversial and confusing topic. One day coffee is bad for you, but the next day it is good. Alcohol is detrimental for our health one day, but the next day red wine is the elixir of life. There are dozens of diet plans and they promise a leaner and healthier body. There is the 3-Hour Diet that involves constantly eating small portions of anything we want to eat. The latest diet craze, the Paleo Diet, is based upon eating foods that our “hunter-gatherer ancestors” would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era. And there is the Blood Type Diet, the South Beach Diet, the Macrobiotic Diet, the Mediterranean Diet, and the list goes on. But who and what should we believe? Well, there is an optimal diet for humans and the answer might surprise many.
For years, I have been eating what I want. Food choices are a significant factor that affects our health. What we like or crave, often, is the determining variable in what we eat.
