The nominees for the Oscar awards for 2016 are set to be announced on Thursday morning, but while the official shortlist is still unannounced, predictions have flooded the Internet. As of now, there is no clear winner for the Oscar’s Best Picture award, Vanity Fair remains confident that “Spotlight,” “The Revenant,” “Carol,” and “The Big Short” will be nominated for the category. Other movies that will most likely be nominated are “Brooklyn,” “Bridge of Spies,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “The Martian,” and “Straight Outta Compton.” “The Revenant” is predicted to sweep the major awards because of its domination in the technical and craft categories. The film’s picture, director, and lead actor also look promising, but the movie’s Golden Globes awards
are no guarantee for a repeat at the Oscars, The Guardian reports. As for the Best Director award, the publication places its top bet on Todd Haynes for “Carol.” Other directors that will most likely get nominated for the category include Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu for “The Revenant,” Tom McCarthy for “Spotlight,” Adam McKay for “The Big Short,” and Ridley Scott for “The Martian.” One of the most anticipated awards is for the Oscar’s Best Actor. After bagging the same award at the Golden Globes, it seems that Leonardo DiCaprio will finally be able to snag the award for his performance in “The Revenant.” His best contenders would be Eddie Redmayne for “The Danish Girl,” Matt Damon for “The Martian,” Michael Fassbender for “Steve Jobs,” and Bryan Cranston for “Trumbo.” As for the Best Actress award, Vanity Fair thinks Cate Blanchett is the best choice for her performance on “Carol.” Other likely candidates for the nomination include Brie Larson for “Room,” Jennifer Lawrence for “Joy,” Charlotte Rampling for “45 Years,” and Saoirse Ronan for “Brooklyn.” There is no guarantee that the predictions for the Oscars 2016 nominations will come true. Fans will have to stay tuned until Thursday morning when the official shortlist is revealed.
“To me if there’s an achievement to lighting and photography in a film, it’s because nothing in the film stands out, it all works as a piece.” (Roger Deakins, cinematographer of True Grit) In the 2010 adaptation of Charles Portis’ novel, True Grit, the directors, Ethan and Joel Coen, and Roger Deakins display the beauty of cinematography within the movie. And although the film was nominated for ten Academy Awards, it did not win any! It most certainly deserves to win based on the film’s use of editing, camera movement and framing, and lighting and sound.
Dennis Dugan has not won an Oscar for his directing at this point . In the 2012 he won the Razzel award . In 2000 and 2008 won the worst director award. Some of the movie that he directed like Jack and Jill did win the Razzel award.
Kesey’s novel proclaims a classic struggle between good and evil, or the hero and the villain. This contemporary classic was brought to life through the film version in 1975 and is considered “one of the greatest American films of all time” (Dirks 1). It was the first film to receive all the major Oscar awards. These included Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay. The same name as the novel was chosen so that it would appeal to contemporary audiences, which proved to be a big hit at the box office.
This has been one of the most fascinating political seasons in recent history. The level of discourse and potential scandals on both sides has increased my attention level. Rather you support either of these candidates, both the fringe candidates from the left and the right both have struck a chord with a lot of people. Whether either of them wins their party’s nomination and becomes the president is still left to be decided. Mainstream political pundits and major social institutions have either condemned or flatly said that some of these candidates’ proposals are not feasible, but to the electorate that doesn’t seem to matter. There has been a lot of commotion about a brokered Republican convention even though it seems that there will be one
As if to prove the point, the film eventually won three Oscars, for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

On March 3, 2010 The New York Times ran an article written by Kim Elsesser entitled “And the Gender-Neutral Oscar Goes To.” Elsesser is a research scholar in Women’s studies and psychology at UCLA with a primary focus on gender issues in the workplace. The op-ed article argues that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences should merge the Academy Awards categories of best actor and best actress. Elsesser argues that the two categories need to become one category in order to eliminate gender segregation in Hollywood.
It’s funny, the way it shakes out when you look at some of the people who were not nominated that are phenomenal, not only do they deserve to be nominated, but win, in fact. That sort of came to my mind first of all. We were on set when I found out, and I think Christian LeBlanc (Michael) started telling everyone who was nominated." When it comes to the scene they would look at, Justin Hartley got to pick the one he liked the best. Hartley could pick out 20 different scenes, but he simply picked one.
The question of who is the best actor is quite the difficult choice, as there are many criteria to account for, such as their range, talent,

It would be an understatement to say that James Cameron’s 2009 epic science fiction film, Avatar, was a blockbuster. Not only did it end up making the most money at the box office than any movie ever made in the history of film, but it also pushed new boundaries for film technology, especially with being a 3d film, which in turn caused it tone of the most discussed films of the year. It really reflected the true essence of what a blockbuster is, based on its approach towards the special effects of the movie, the themes it presented, the narrative structure it conveyed, and the legacy it was able to leave behind. As a film that contained innovations for cinema, it ultimately left an impact that was able to transcend just mere entertainment, and showed that movies could be art forms once again.
