A PROPOSAL FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION CAREERS EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE IN HIGH SCHOOLS
Research shows that several people have nearly 40 years of work life. However, it is gravely unthinkable to know a large proportion of the national labor force live these years doing something they dislike or even hate. The concept of career states it to be a person's pathway to learning and work. From an education perspective, careers education is also an indicator of a good educational system. A good education and equality of opportunity help to give young people important choices when starting out on their career path i.e. the choice of a vocation, adequate preparation for it, and the attainment of efficiency and success. The overall objective of the Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance Strategy is to enable young adults to manage their own career development successfully, confidently and with due respect and care for their own needs in line with national development programme.
Therefore, in order to implement this project, I am going to organize my high-performance team (between 2 to 10 people) by setting SMART (Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bounding) goal, helping the team to transit quickly through the forming and the storming stage, where they interact as a team in terms of brainstorming, planning and participating in team-building operations, which will aid their easy transition into the norming stage. Among the sterile field of the cardiac catheter laboratory, a student is observing over a cardiologist’s head while a surgical technician narrates their role in the standard ablation. This is just one of the many pivotal experiences that a student in Liberty High School’s Allied Health CTE program can expect. The student is on a path made available by the Western Maricopa Education Center and, if followed properly, that student can expect to graduate high school as a skilled worker in the medical field. Allied Health is just a small portion of a much bigger picture that provides ever growing opportunities to high school students prior to graduation.

The Career Decision Self-Efficacy Scale (CDSE) was developed by Karen Taylor and Nancy Betz to apply Albert Bandura’s theory of self-efficacy expectations to the domain of career decision making. Career decision self-efficacy was originally defined by Taylor and Betz as the individual’s belief that he or she can successfully complete tasks necessary in making career decisions. To define these tasks, the theory of career maturity of John O. Crites was used. Crites’s theory defined career maturity as the individual’s degree of possession of five career choice competencies and five career choice attitudes. The five career choice competencies and sample items are: 1. accurate self-appraisal, 2. occupational information, 3. goal selection, 4. planning, and 5. problem
The importance of teams is becoming more and more apparent in today's dynamic business world. Increasingly managers are searching for a means to improve production and keep their organization competitive in the global market. A lot of these managers have turned to the team as a means for achieving this improvement. Quality circles were originally looked at to fulfill this role, however they are being phased out in favor of self-managed work teams. These teams are increasingly being used to solve many of today's organizations production problems and inefficiencies, and in the process are both badly failing and greatly succeeding. So the discussion of teams is a very important one to address. Managers should be aware of the concept of teams and learn about as a means to further their organization and for when the time comes to implement a team they are prepared with the knowledge needed to build and use a team properly.
The collection of ideas, knowledge, and experience of different individuals is better than that of only one person. From problem-solving to innovation, organizations have relied on the high-performances of groups and teams to set the organization apart from the rest. Having a common goal will make each team member accountable for the success and failure of the team. Since each team member is accountable to the team, each member's behavior will have an effect on the team. To belong to a team requires that each member be clear on the goals and objectives of the team-to share a common vision. (Park, 2005) By doing so, a group can become a high-performance team.
Teams are a major source of companies in these coming years. Teams are Heroes (Collins, 2009-08-27). Everyone wants to be a hero, therefore we need to build, follow, and be effective team members and effective team leaders.
They also concern with career adjustments people make over time. The career development theories are of great value for teacher and counsellor because they need to seek constantly for insight into the reasons that stimulate students to make certain career choices. Only by doing so, they will be able to understand and help them. Researches have been conducted in an attempt to develop systematic theory of career development so that the students can get proper guidance. According to Johnson (2000), Career development theories can be grouped into two categories: Structural and Developmental.
In this era of organizational restructuring and technological change, individuals can no longer plan on spending their entire working lives with one organization. Life no longer follows a linear path: schooling, work, retirement. Career paths, too, are no longer a linear rise up the ladder to the top. Some analysts proclaim the "new rules of work" : everyone is self-employed and the concept of "job " is disappearing (Hall and Mirvis 1995). Such fundamental changes mean that people need more help than ever with career issues. However, a recent survey of 1,046 adults (Hoyt and Lester 1995) showed that 40% would turn to family or friends first; 37% to counselors. Career management plays important role in career development. Career management is done with involved taking some necessary steps to reach the career plan and commonly more focusing on the ability of the organization able to do for their employee to increase their career development (Werner & DeSimone, 2009). Career plan is usually able to be performed, at least in some apart, through the training program which implemented by the organization. Career management process contained four steps which are self-assessment, reality check, goal setting and action planning (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1).
In this assignment we as a team will discuss how to effectively plan for success in careers. Including which strategies can be employed for professional growth, such as continued learning by staying up to date on current information in your field or earning a higher degree, taking advantage of training and development opportunities through your employer. It may be felt by clients that the primary objectives and responsibilities of vocational counsellors and a trained career counsellor are similar but in fact they are essentially different. Social context of clients in their career switches or consideration for a certain career path is one key area of assessment. However, it might comes off as an area unconcerned by vocational counsellors. The tag line is career counseling does sensations in both characteristics and life of an individual bringing out underlying drive’s on an individual to a higher heights. Hence, career counselling conducted by trained career counsellors definitely yield more benefits making it a value-add service.
Many businesses place an emphasis on the importance of teamwork. A good team consists of people with different skills, abilities and characters. A successful team is able to blend these differences together to enable the organisation to achieve its desired objectives.
