What important safety steps must be taken in order for a child to get the proper nutrition? There are several Steps, Some which are: making sure the safety requirements are met, storage, preparation, proper food handling, and presentation. None of these steps can be carried out without any proper planning. Sanitation one of the most important steps, Good Hand washing should always be practiced in order to stop the spread of germs and diseases. Especially at an early age when children are still learning it is vital they learn all about washing their hands and the adults should always remind them of this. Foodborne illnesses can be spread without the proper sanitation and hand washing, Many times children are out playing and they don’t wash …show more content…
Keeping the refrigerator at a temperature of 40 ° F or less, and the freezer at 0°F, to slow the growth of bacteria. Most importantly good hand washing is key and vital for good food safety sanitation, diarrhea and other foodborne illnesses can be cut in half with just kids and staff maintaining their hands clean. Proper Storage of food after cooking is important in preventing the spread of bacteria from raw foods. Which is why it is best that raw foods should usually be store at the bottom of the fridge in order to avoid juices from dripping onto other foods or fruits. Foods should always be covered, wrapped, and stored in airtight containers in order to protect the food from …show more content…
When handling food it is important to note to avoid certain foods, as they could be a choking hazard for the children. Whole grapes, hard candy, nuts, seeds are to name a few a couple of foods which should be avoided. When handling the proper nutrition it is important to include: Dairy, Grains, Fruits and vegetables, and Meats. Two to two and a half cups of milk should be offered thru out the day. Half a banana or ½ a cup of fruit should be offered as a snack during the day. Steamed broccoli and or carrots should be included also, the serving size of 1 ½ to 2 cups of vegetables. Breakfast is a good time to offer the child their servings of grains; oatmeal, cereal, and a bagel are a few examples of what to give the child. The last part of their meal which should also be included daily is the protein consisting of chicken, beef, or ham preferably the serving size should be 3-5
Enterococcus faecalis is a genus of gram positive cocci and form short chains or are arranged in pairs. They are nonmotile, facultative anaerobic organisms and can survive in harsh conditions in nature. There are over 15 species of the Enterococcus genus but about 90% of clinical isolates are E. faecalis. E. faecalis is a nosocomial pathogen because it is commonly found in the hospital environment and can cause life-threatening infections in humans. It is a bacterium that normally inhabits the intestinal tract in humans and animals but when found in other body locations it can cause serious infections. The most common sites for E. faecalis infections are the heart, bloodstream, urinary tract, and skin wounds. Due to vancomycin-resistant Enterococci, many antibiotics have been shown ineffective in the treatment. In this paper, I will describe the ecology and pathology of E. faecalis; the antibacterial resistance; treatment; and, what you can do to prevent Enterococcus infection.
“The 1910 Report of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching… further heightened expectations for substantial improvements in the quality of medical care and in the general health of the population” ( Winkelstein, Jr., 2009, p. 44). Issues such as major medical care problems and public safety existed in US cities after industrialization. The emerging progressive era would work to correct sanitation and medical system issues which lead to the US improving conditions. Most of the U.S. population would not acknowledge that there were any problems and these institutions would try to exclude certain people from having access to any health programs. In the Progressive era issues in the healthcare and sanitation systems were improved
To be healthy you must have four unsettles ingredients. These four things are eating healthy and the right amount, exercising regularly, sleeping well, and getting the right nutritious vitamins. A child two to eight years old need the same four unsettles to be healthy. The only difference is that they need a different amount of each that an adult. They must eat the recommended intake in each food group corresponding with their age and sex stated in the Canada’s food guide. They must also get daily excurses, with lots of sleep. The National sleep foundation recommends that children one to five years old should get 11 to 14 hours of sleep each night (National sleep foundation, n.d.) They must also get the right nutritious vitamins to help them grow. A good way to achieve this is with a child baste motley vitamin. I will be inspecting the intake of food a child in daycare consumes each day to see if them meet the recommendations set by The Canada food guide. Studying their strengths and weaknesses and how thy can be improved.
This literature review will analyze and critically explore four studies that have been conducted on hand hygiene compliance rates by Healthcare workers (HCWs). Firstly, it will look at compliance rates for HCWs in the intensive care units (ICU) and then explore the different factors that contribute to low hand hygiene compliance. Hospital Acquired infections (HAI) or Nosocomial Infections appear worldwide, affecting both developed and poor countries. HAIs represent a major source of morbidity and mortality, especially for patients in the ICU (Hugonnet, Perneger, & Pittet, 2002). Hand hygiene can be defined as any method that destroys or removes microorganisms on hands (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2009). According to the World Health Organization (2002), a HAI can be defined as an infection occurring in a patient in a hospital or other health care facility in whom the infection was not present or incubating at the time of admission. The hands of HCWs transmit majority of the endemic infections. As
Educators need to be prepared for any accidents that may occur, make sure there is a first aid kit that is well stocked and checked on a regular basis. Food must be handled properly and a well balanced diet should be followed. Food safety guidelines need to followed to preven...

Below I have made a 5-day meal plan for a group of three-year-old children, I have made sure to include the foods and meals that fall into the CACFP meal patterns (U. S. Department of Agriculture. n.d.). During making this meal plan I had to keep in mind that three-year-old children have a better chance of choking on a food that is bigger than a pea. I made sure I added that there needed to be deiced fruit and soft, appealing foods. Also, being conscious of food allergies that may be present in this group of children. Being mindful of these allergies meant not including peanuts, shellfish, wheat and having dairy free and egg free options for those allergic and those who are vegan. Although a menu is important in a childcare setting it is also
There are 80 countries that have been suffering from a lack of clean water, and two billion people lack access to freshwater, especially South Africa (Alois). This area of countries is the driest in the world - Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt and so on. Like in the book A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, Nya, who lives in Sudan, has been lacking clean water. She has to find water every day for her family. Luckily, Nya got help from Salva who used to live in Sudan and came back from America to build the water system for her village. However, there are still many people around the world that have been suffering to find clean water for basic use. There are many factors that cause a lack of clean water around the world: geography of countries, deforestation,
Parents across the nation have struggled with the effectiveness of toilet training. Toilet training is an age old task that does not just consist of making it in time to the restroom, but a complete process of discussion, undressing, eliminating, dressing again, flushing the toilet, and washing ones hands (Brannigan, Cuskelly, and Keen, 2007). With a variety of techniques parents have created their own way of completing the process of toilet training through some form of behavior modification. Behavior modification involves the systematic application of learning principles and techniques to assess and improve individuals’ covert and overt behaviors in order to enhance their daily functioning (Martin and Pear, 2015). While parents create their

A child’s proper growth depends greatly on their nutrition and health. A healthy diet is essential to the developing child. Food should never be used to reward, punish, or bribe a child. Instead children should have three healthy meals with snacks in between. It is also important for children to have good self care behaviors (including bathing, washing hands, brushing teeth), and adequate sleep.
60% of our body is made out of liquid and water is one of the most common liquids we know. We need water as humans but what if the water was contaminated and unclean, we would have a lot of diseases that would spread and cause death everywhere and so NASA created a water purification device and its job is basically the process to purify water. One of the main reasons NASA did this is because of their space programs. We could bring as much water out of our atmosphere but it’s not going to last for long because the water will get dirty and unsafe to drink. Water is used for a lot of things and the water cycle does not exist in outer space, so water purification is water cycle, but in a machine. The machine purifies polluted water or any contaminated water.
Handling, processing, and preparation such as (cooking, cooling, reheating, holding/service) should be controlled to ensure that the food is not contaminated in any way.
This paper is about water purification. Water that is safe to drink is called potable water. Our freshwater is definitely not evenly put out throughout the world (www.science.howstuffworks.com). More than half of the world’s water supply is contained in just nine different countries: United States, Colombia, Canada, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo, China, India, Russia, and Indonesia (science.howstuffworks.com). The Middle Eastern countries use the least amount of water per person because there are very few natural and reliable sources of fresh and clean water. Right now more than a billion people (about 17% of the world’s population) don’t have access to clean water (www.science.howstuffworks.com).
Nowadays, refrigeration and freezing had become the most popular method for food preservation. It is a desirable way to preserve food because at low temperatures which around –10°C to –25°C, chemical reactions very slowly thus it will make the bacteria in food hard to survive.
