Writing does not require you to make major changes in your life because you can work whenever and wherever you want to want unless you have a job with deadlines involved. If deadlines are involved you have to make sure you deliver it on time. A writer has the ability to write whenever they please and when they have time to. If you want to be a writer but you are extremely busy you can fit writing into your schedule and you have the liberty of writing anywhere you want. The only real thing you have to worry about is finding an inspiration because it is up to you to find what inspires and motivates you to work. You also have to find an area to work and find somewhere that lets you work creatively. Writing requires you to have stable life economically. …show more content…
Writers must have certain personalities to help them succeed in this career the main ones being creativity, imagination, and originality. These are the most common personalities among writers but it can also depend on what you are writing and who you are as a person. Another thing that you should be aware of is you need to have a lot of patience. Creativity is important because if you want to write stories or books you need to have ideas that you can depend on in order to draw inspiration from. This is where originality comes in.Originality plays a major role in this because you need to come up with something that makes you stand out and be original. In the world of literature plagiarizing is a major issue because you are stealing someone else's work and it can damage your reputation severely because it is unethical and unprofessional. This is why it is important to be original. Imagination is the personality that matters the most as a writer because it allows you to form ideas and it gives you inspiration while writing. Patience is another personality that is extremely important for this career because some writers get impatient while waiting to get published or get recognition.Having these traits would help you a lot as a
The very first chapter we read of Mindful Writing changed my perspective to see that anyone and everyone can be a writer. Brian Jackson, the author of Mindful Writing, wrote, “In this book I want to convince you that anyone writing anything for any reason is a writer…Writing is not something we do just in school. It is a vital means of influence in all facets of life.” It was through that very first reading that I began to think about writing as more than just a dreaded part of school, and I began to think of myself as more than just a student forced to write. Our very first assignment, My Writing Story, helped me to reflect on my identity as a writer. I realized that I was a writer every time I wrote in my journal or captioned an Instagram post. Throughout the semester, as I came to love writing more with each paper I wrote, I was able to create my identity as a writer. I learned that I loved research and analyzing others’ thoughts and ideas, but that writing simply on my own opinions, wasn’t my favorite past time. Through the countless readings this semester, I saw which writing styles I loved and which didn’t speak to me. Each day of class, I chipped away at creating my identity as a writer, and I’m grateful for the lessons that helped me shape and realize that
A lot of actors decide to become writers because they want to make something that they want to do. Typically, it doesn 't always work. They say in LA that everybody has a screenplay idea, but only one out every one hundred will actually sit down and do it. Same is true for books. As soon as someone finds out I 'm a writer, people will say, "Oh my gosh, my life would make such a funny sitcom or a great Lifetime movie." And I always say, "In everybody 's life, there is enough drama to have a movie written.
Writing has incessantly been a struggle throughout my short life. Within writing, everyone possesses the entirety of tools needed to produce greatness, but many lack in the manufacturing of the product. You may have the greatest ideas for novels and short stories, though be unable to truly express yourself within the confines of only words. This precise issue faces me on a daily basis. All these exceptional visions spinning in my mind, yet I have not been able to master the art of putting these visions onto paper. However, I do admit I have grown as a writer over this single semester, and have major goals set for myself, not only as a writer but also in my career field.
Writing is a way in which a person can express their thoughts and ideas through the use of words. Everybody has their own writing styles. Some may consider theirs as inspirational while others think of it to be bad. Writing requires a lot of patience and time. In my case, writing has never been my favorite thing to do. I am no Shakespeare and I never will be, writing has always made me feel uncomfortable. In the past, I had always considered writing to be one of the most difficult tasks. I often wrote about topics that were not of my interest. I rarely did any writing out of school or for leisure as most people do. I only wrote because the teacher asked us to. Writing has always been forced onto me. Even though my writing isn't that great, I've felt that I've never been given the freedom to express my voice. Academic writing has always made me anxious. And, anxiety had resulted in my procrastination. Even though I consider writing to be one of the toughest tasks, I've felt that giving myself enough time to think allows me to do better. Silence helps me think beyond horizons. However, the fear of impressing someone, the anxiety and frustration is what makes me a developing writer.
I am sitting in my bed, thinking about my process of writing as I am trying to go through it. It seems the more I think about it, the less I understand it. When I am writing, I don’t think. Which I know, sounds bad. But, I spend every single moment of every single day over thinking, over analyzing, and over assuming every aspect of my life. When I’m writing, I’m free from that for just a little bit. Until of course, my hands stop typing or the pencil (no pens- never pens) stops moving, then I’m right back on the carousel that is my brain. Heidi Estrem says, “...writers use writing to generate knowledge that they didn’t have before.” (Writing is a Knowledge-Making Activity 18). I believe my ability to write without an exact destination
Another one of my strengths as a writer and a student is my determination to complete every assignment to the best of my ability. I have never been the type of student that does not get her work done, whether it be an essay for English or a workbook page for Geometry. I work diligently in all my classes and aim to learn as much as I can from every assignment. Since English is not my best subject, I work twice as hard to improve every day and bring out the best writer in me. My determination is what drove me to enhance my weaknesses and polish my strengths.
I have learned a lot about myself in the last twelve weeks. I discovered so much about my writing. I learned who I really am once I came out from behind the "Official Style" that I've clung to since junior high. I have to tell you, it was very difficult for me to let go. I felt lost and uncertain. But in the process I found myself, my style, and my voice. I learned to let myself come through in my writing. I have to admit, writing became a lot more fun and interesting.
Another great aspect of my personality is my determination and willpower to go on with the goal I have set for myself. I am dedicated to my work, whatever it may be, and I will finish what has been started. I will use my dedication, determination, and kindness to make a change in my community and to achieve my goal of becoming a
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
“How to Become a Writer” written by Lorrie Moore consists of a story describing how to become a writer from the beginning to the end of the learning process. Moore starts the story by saying that if someone wants to become a writer then they should try and do something else, “movie star / astronaut, a movie star / missionary, or a movie star / kindergarten teacher” (Moore 397) The first step, in the process, is starting as a little kid then transition to high school and write poems and decide that it is not the way to write. The character decides to “experiment with fiction” (Moore 397). Then the character chooses to work with kids and use their stories to try and write her own. Moore’s story continues when the character transitions to college. In college the character takes a bird watching class. When he attends the bird watching class it ends up being the wrong class. “This class is Creative Writing” (Moore 398). The character decides that maybe it is fate that she ended up in the wrong class. As the character attends college she finds inside himself that he likes college, so he continues to write stories. No one likes her stories but she continues anyway. ...
My strengths as a writer are that my papers are very well developed, they have always been graded and ranged from a high B to an A. I always meet the requirement, but I don't add as much detail as I should. I have a good style and organization. I always make sure to keep my papers in order. All of my papers have spelling errors but is not bad enough for the reader to get confused while reading. Readers can easily follow my papers with no struggles. I use a variety of simple and complex sentences to structure my papers. I do get quite a few comma splices, but never to many run-on sentences or fragments in my paper. My papers do have a good word choice that include imagery and figurative language. I don't use super strong verbs in my papers and I also have grammatical errors in my papers as well.
I am not, by any means, a Shakespeare, Stephen King, or John Grisham. It would take enormous amounts of time, practice, and effort to be considered a long shot at a Pulitzer Prize. Yet, I intend to progress my writing by setting more achievable goals, building on new ideas, and developing new skills. Also, I will use the advice of instructors and peers, and draw from previous writing experiences to mold this and future writing experiences.

I don’t consider myself a very good writer. I write when I am made to or when I have something that I need to say that I can’t just tell someone. I keep a diary. Usually my diary is just a record of what I have done that day. It’s not so much about my feelings. I don’t really like talking about my feelings, usually because most of the time I am confused about what exactly I am feeling. I tend to keep the feelings that I do have to myself, to protect myself from getting hurt.
