How does the cost of child care influence the decisions of mothers with young children?
A large problem I have noticed with sub-optimal child care and high-quality child care are that they have an extreme variation in prices. Some people say that high-quality child care is more expensive then sub-optimal child care because of how well they take care of the children. The differences between the both of them; in some child care centers there are chances that the children may be harmed or that they are not being fed correctly, and in some cases not learning certain things to start pre-school.
When a mother that has a young child or children they normally look for a child care provider that meets their standards. I know how a mother can feel because I have had to go through this experience in having a child myself who is in a daycare. If I had a choice of having to choose between sub-optimal child care and high-quality child care I would definitely look at a high-quality because of the different things they offer that sub-optimal does not. One problem that I have found is that it can interfere with my income.
With a limited income that my family has it feels that I am forced to go into a sub-optimal child care provider because that is what we can afford and still be able to pay our bills. It does not have to be that way though, there are programs available by the state that can help if someone cannot afford it. Also lots of daycares have food programs to follow a nutritious plan for the children they are taking care of. I do not feel that people should be judged based on how much money they make and that is great if the state will help. Anyone who needs a daycare should be able to choose which one they want without it hurting ...

...e twenty years. If things were to change the way I want them to, the cost of daycare would benefit a lot of people especially low income families. A lot of teenagers start out with a low pay until their careers take off and if they have children to provide for daycare can make things really hard.
I believe that people who are trying to make a difference in their lives should be able to have to the help they need when it comes to child care. A lot of families cannot afford it and that is why some young mother’s decided to stay at home. If I made this easier on mother’s maybe they can get out and go back to school to do the things they want to instead of waiting until they put their children in school. We should be able to give the children the life they need, so when they start school they will have all of the necessities they need instead of having to go without.
Childcare is a necessity for a large number of working families and single parents. Fortunately, there are many options available to meet both the needs of the family and their budget. Each option comes with advantages and disadvantages. We will provide some basic information regarding each type, as well as some guidelines in regards to estimated cost.
...e Services only require the bare minimum of care for children. This is not acceptable, quality in childcare matters and it is time for us to change our expectations. Children deserve the best care that society and their parents can offer them. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is currently holding stakeholder meetings across the State. The purpose of these meetings, aimed toward parents and childcare providers, is to create a discussion about the current minimum standards. By attending these meetings, and making our voices heard, we as a society will be able to make a change. Requiring that every childcare operation meet the ratios recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children creates the possibility for every child to receive the best start in life. It is difficult to think of a better outcome from a policy change.
Most parents would probably prefer a family member would take care of their child; it could possibly be no cost and would make them feel as though they weren’t having someone else raise their child because they have to work. This is not an option for many parents so they go outside the family to make their choice of care. A day care center and an individual caregiver both have their pros and cons. Day care centers are open longer hours and have more workers in case of illness, caregivers could become ill and the parents would have to take the child to an emergency back up or miss work entirely. Children are very much individuals and have to be considered in the choice the family makes for care of their child. Every family must decide first what they can afford and then weigh the options to provide the best care available to them.
Note: Bathroom and /or diaper change times vary to meet the child’s needs. This is a general schedule and is dictated mostly by the children’s needs and feelings each day.
Over time, the debate of childcare issue within the Canadian public policy context has been raging. Rise in the media attention of the social issue of childcare policy in Canada concentrates on the relationship and coordination among the federal, provincial, and territorial governments in addressing the social issue (Finkel, 20013). According to Lewis Steven of The Star Canada News Agency, childcare is one of the priorities the Canadian Federal Government need to consider when designing its social policies. According to Lewis (2013), the Canadian Federal Government needs to consider the safety net income as an important factor contributing to affordable childcare services in the country. In Canada, parents or members of extended family have the responsibility of providing childcare services without the consideration of family net income. However, outside the family, there are many childcare providers operating as private individuals or agencies. Such childcare providers operate as private businesses.
There are about a million and one things to look into when parents are deciding if they will send their child to preschool. The history of preschool shows a lot of interesting information about how preschools have changed and how they affect students. It is said that preschool will give students a head start. There is also the price to think about when sending children off to preschool. But those are just a few of the many factors people may think about before sending their little one off to school. Some other things that are not usually brought up right up front are locations of preschools, the curriculum taught, the types of teachers, etc. People generally just think about the cost and the fact they have a place to send their child to learn while they work.
It is unacceptable that we pay a ridiculous amount of money for daycare, and all for it to not be helping our children as much as it should. Parents have no other options unfortunately. Adults shouldn’t have to be forced to go back to work 12 weeks after having a baby. You are barely getting to know your own child when you are forced to leave them with a complete strange. I think that this is a policy that needs to be change, for parents to keep their work and raise their child longer before going back. This policy shouldn’t be a company decision but a national policy, with the way our nation is running right now, I don’t think that will be possible to do, so it should start changing within big companies, so that others can follow
Parents are always questioning whether they would like to have any more children someday. One of the aspects parents think about in this decision is child care. Child care can be pricey and the quality of the child care is also something to think about as well. Parents want their child to grow up and become very successful in life. Choosing a daycare from infant on, is part of the process to becoming successful as they grow. For one to add on to the family they need to think about the quality of child care, the price of child care, and attention of care: how their child will be raised. High-quality child care should be provided at public expense to all working parents!
...ter, because in order to receive daycare help you must be working. A lot of times this still leaves the mother in a bind, due to the lack of hours she works and the lack of support she will receive. At times the mother has to choose a low quality daycare which only makes it worse on her children; they may not endure the proper amount of attention needed as well as nutrition.
Children who participate in quality early learning programs tend to be more successful later in school. They are also most socially and emotionally competent. In addition those children show higher verbal and intellectual development during early childhood than children who do not participate in early learning programs (A Parent’s Guide to Choosing Quality Child Care). In order for a child care center to be a quality center they must have an educated staff, a program accreditation, and good health and safety practices. Parents choose high quality child care for many reasons. These programs prepare children for school in which they gain intellectual and social skills. Also the programs are a good opportunity for children because they receive age-appropriate learning materials and activities to let the children learn and grow.

Daycare’s focus is mainly on a child’s development through social interaction with children and caregivers. There are head start programs that are geared to give children a foot in the right direction in order to be ready for preschool or kindergarten. The right kind of childcare can be a wonderful opportunity to promote the profound learning children experience from birth through age five (Selecting Child Care, 2002). When selecting childcare for your child, the Foundation of Early Learning has offered some tips that they believe will be helpful in the process. The foundation says that parents have always known that a good early experience is important for their child.
It is often argued that daycare workers get paid just enough or more than enough. Thus it is understandable that parents do not want to spend more than they have to of their well earned money. This fact is very understandable. Parents have to pay for their living and they have bills just like child care workers. Anybody in the working field knows what its like to work hard and make so little. Child care workers are a big example of this. They work a hard, sometimes stressful job and they do not seem to get appreciated for it. Parents feel it is okay to ask for raises or more benefits, so why cant child care workers?
