Prince had many different nicknames, each representing his exotic and interesting talents and personality. Both Prince’s dad and mom were in a band when he was a child, sparking his career. Although Prince had a successful career, he also had quite a few struggles in his lifetime. Prince brought his very own sense of style to his music, played his own instruments, and inspired others in his field, making him one of the best Rock/R&B singers.
Prince’s career was inspired by many things ranging from his family to his own talents. Since both Prince’s mother and father were in the same jazz band, Prince’s journey to music had begun (Warren,2001). Prince wrote popular songs for other well-known artists (Jarnow,2018). His music has also been changed by other singers. Prince not only set a good example, he also influenced other singers to pursue their dreams (Jarnow,2018). Although Prince’s other talents made him popular his name also contributed.
Prince was given his true name at birth, but changed it a few times during his life. Prince changed his name to the unpronounceable symbol of his last album in 1993, which many people could not pronounce (Warren,2001). When Prince changed his name, it was for a purpose. Prince's hit song "Purple Rain" from the movie, launched him into his successful career, topping the charts for twenty-four weeks in a row. His most famous singles were: "When Doves Cry","Let's Go Crazy", "Take Me With U", "Purple Rain", and “I Would Die 4 U” (Warren,2001). Prince was the first ever black entertainer to be featured on MTV. His songs from the popular album 1999, such as "Little Red Corvette," were in a constant rotation (Warren,2001). Prince’s big break also helped him in earning awards.
In his lifetime, prince won many awards and accomplished many things. In 1985, Prince won a Grammy for "Purple Rain" and "I Feel for You". He also won a Best Original Score Oscar for "Purple Rain" the same year (Warren,2001). Since he was 21, Prince has made all of his songs without help. On his first five albums, he even played the instruments we hear (Warren,2001).
