Preventing Homelessness in the United States

The United States will continue to be a developed country if the numbers of people holding cardboard on the street do not decrease. 1 out of 7 people in U.S suffer from hunger and are forced to sleep in parks, under bridges, in shelters or cars (Hunger and Homelessness 1).Every year, the homeless population grows in United States. People become homeless because of many reasons. Because they are homeless, they have been struggling in every way that human possible can have. In order to get back on their feet, they need help in every way. The homeless population is increasing drastically in society. People who are more fortunate than others should put social status aside and take an action to help homeless people to get back on their feet.

Homeless people have to face hunger situations and other problems everyday of their life (Hunger and Homelessness 1). They have to sleep under the bridge, if they lost everything they had. Some who still have left something such as car; they manage to sleep in their car for shelter. Not everyone fits in the homeless shelter, so people also sleep by trashcan, on the street, or any place that they could find (“How Can You Help End Homelessness” 1).

Food is the most important thing to survive, but for homeless, it takes miracle to find food even for a day. Some people got food from begging on the street or buy food by the money they received. Others find food in unfortunate places; trashcan, picking it on the road, or eat others’ leftover. Even if there are chances of getting food from, some also starve and even lead to death. Because of food being so hard to find, 57% homeless spends at least a day being starve (“Statics” 2). For not receiving food and not eating regularly, it affects health conditions. They become sick easily. Once homeless gets sick, it is not easy to get back on track because they do not have anybody that take care of them. While the population of homeless increase, the death rate of homeless people also increase.

Every year, homeless population is increasing. 3.5 million People experience homelessness in a year (“Hunger and Homelessness” 1). Most of the homeless are family and children (“Top Causes of Homelessness in America” 1).In the homeless population, 35% of populations are children and children homelessness is increasing the most. One fourth of the children are under 18.
