We all have at least one person that makes the hair on the back of our necks stand up. Wether it be because they are mean, or annoying or a combination of many other things we just don’t like them. I personally can’t stand a few people, but the one person that makes me super aggravated, I don’t ever have to see. This girl’s name is Rouie. First off her name just absolutely drives me nuts. I don’t know anyone else named Rouie, so there is no other face to put to the name than the girl that I cant stand. She's two years younger than me, but about four less mature. I didn’t used to hate her though. The first I’d ever heard of Rouie was her being the girl from the barn across the street, whose mother was a ‘bipolar monster’, but Rouie was supposedly nice. My trainer let Rouie join her training program, but I initially never saw Rouie around the barn because she would take her lessons late at night as if she didn't want to be seen. We’d soon find out that she was being given special privileges by my trainer- which now my trainer regrets- and she wanted to keep it a secret. The idea th...
“‘I'm the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It's awful’” (Salinger 9). The main character already calls himself a liar, so is he guilty of being a phony. The book The Catcher in the Rye is a classic in American literature. The main character Holden Caulfield is kicked out of school and then adventure ensues. When Holden refers to things he doesn’t like he uses the word phony. Holden is somewhat consistent enough with the word to more or less understand what he means. The following essay will help analyze Holden’s use of the word phony. Holden does not give an alternative to the word because he seemingly throws it around at everyone he does not like. Holden himself is guilty of being a phony. J.D. Salinger uses Holden’s ideas about phoniness to show the reader not to be hypocritical when judging someone else.

Shakespeare used many literary devices throughout his history to create timeless classics. Much Ado About Nothing is no exception. He used things such as themes, symbols and motifs to create this effect. Masking is the prominent motif in Much Ado About Nothing. It is seen many times over in this play. There are two kinds of masking that Shakespeare used in Much Ado. One is literal masking, this where a character actually wears a mask during the play. This is seen several times. There is also another form of masking that was used in Much Ado About Nothing, this is literary masking and this is when characters hide and/or makeup plots to put into others heads for a benefit or a cause.
In Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, while the narrator Holden thinks about and discusses Catholicism and having faith the word “bastard” or “phony” is always integrated into his ideas. Salinger’s repetition of the words “bastard” and “phony” in scenes discussing religion effectively characterizes Holden as someone with little faith, and a person with belief in only concrete ideas. While Holden reflects on his time at Pencey, he thought about the person that donated to the construction of his dorm Ossenburger. Holden had a vivid memory about a speech Ossenburger presented to his dorm about always praying to Jesus even while he was in the car. Holden considered Ossenburger stupid for relying on Jesus to keep him safe, “He said he talked to Jesus all the time. Even when he was driving his car. That killed me. I can just see the big phony
“Watch where you’re going fat ass!”. Quoted from the famous 2004 movie, Mean Girls, a high school girl hollers this at main character, Regina George, for gaining weight. Being in the middle of the school cafeteria, Regina gets laughed at and ridiculed in front of her peers. While this scene is a laughing stock for people at first watch, it actually does much more for our society than provide a couple of chuckles. It subconsciously instills a line of thinking in adolescence saying that acquiring weight is an abominable thing to do. This is just one example of how the media, in which society views, molds the perception of American beauty in adolescents. The American culture today, through different mediums, displays the message that the ideal female is to be skinny, tall,
Macbeth uses deception and lies to become king from killing Duncan to killing his “friend” Banquo. Lady Macbeth is not much better. She also deceives Duncan when he comes to stay in their castle. She later tries self-deception to rid her of some of the heavy guilt she is feeling. The witches use deception with Macbeth, toying with his life. Their false prophecies eventually leave Macbeth unprepared and lead to his downfall. While many different strategies are used in this play by Shakespeare to get Macbeth the kingship, deceit is the most prominent and important in the entire play.
Lorraine, also a sophomore in high school. She doesn’t normally cause trouble she almost always follows the rules and doesn’t do things that are wrong. But lately Lorraine has been doing some things she knows she shouldn’t do.
Since the beginning, I have gone to the same school as Leslie, and almost every year I got stuck with a teacher that she had had the previous year. Being only eleven months younger than my sibling made the memory of Leslie, being the bright student that she is, easier for my teachers to recall. Every September for eleven years I was greeted by all of my teachers with the same "Oh you're Leslie's little brother." This was really no big deal. The following year, my fifth grade teacher said to me, "Oh you're Leslie's little brother?" This normally did not faze me since it happened to me several times before with different people, but on this occasion, it was the same person. This upset me a little.
I found myself in a town where a lot of children camps did not occur, but that did not prevent me from attending Lansing united ladies game on the 14th of June 2018 at 7 pm at East Lansing soccer complex which is located right behind the quarry lodge house. I am currently Lansing MI and playing in the premier development league (PDL) for Lansing United, and I saw it be wise to show up in our lady’s game and provide an assessment about the management areas as a spectator. I chose this event base on numerous reasons. during lady’s game, the population of the spectators increases compared to the men’s game and moreover I could choose and talk about anything under areas of analysis of this event. Talking about one of the best stadium with good
Especially at school. In particular, this one individual Kai. I do understand she has a small amount of down syndrome. But that doesn't bother me unlike most people. Of course he's different, everyone is different in their own unique ways. Kai is funny, and sometimes a bit loud when she gets overly excited. Many people at school will tell her to shut up or go back to where she came from. These hurtful comments sadly make Kai feel as if she is unwanted. But nobody has ever listened to what she says. I offer my listening and friendship to her because, no one should ever feel as if they cant express themselves. Although Kai feels that I'm like the rest of the school and all I want to do is make fun of her. I want to direct her to seeing that she's perfect the way she is, but everyone has ruined that
Robby yelled to the entire class that I called Dana a whale. Robby laughed, but she cried and ran to the bathroom so she could be alone, and the rest of the class gasped because they were surprised. Once we got called into the hallway, after talking for like 20 minutes, she told us we were getting a detention. I did not admit to it because I did not want to get in trouble, although I did call her it. She gave us a paper to write to apologize to her but I did not admit to saying it, so I had extra work to do. She gave me an entire extra paper to do, which wasn't hard but was still more work, so i didn't like it. Calling Dana a whale was a mean thing to do, so I wish i wouldn't of done it. But, Robby does not feel the same way. He still calls
Within society’s dominant white supremacist, capitalist, hetero-patriarchal lens, behaving badly can be used as a model for creating change. By directly challenging norms, one is also empowered by centering themselves in whatever action or space is taken. Divadom is drawn around the ability to control, whether it be the narrative presented or the audience, and as a person, the diva uses the body as a platform to perform. “Gender Performance: From the Freak Show to Modern Drag” by Olivia Germann and Chapter seven “Divas Pop and Pomo” of The Diva’s Mouth: Body, Voice, and Prima Donna Politics, both delve into the power of performance for the collective and individual, while simultaneously addressing the constraints imposed by the audience, whether
Cali is a freshman in high school, she is 15 and gets bullied and picked on everyday. She’s nice and never talks that much but other kids think she’s weird at school. Some students who sit behind her in class, like to pull hair, shove her in the hallway, and say mean things about her. They start rumors that aren’t true. No one is nice to her and she doesn't really have any friends.
The locker life may not seem very difficult but in reality its one of the hardest things i’ve ever had to do. Well actually, it’s the only thing I have ever had to do but I picture it as one of the most strenuous jobs out there. My owner, Gianna Marie Gallitelli, treats me, locker number 429, horribly. I know that Gia wishes she could treat me better, but as she tells all of her friends, she just doesn’t have the time. Once a month, Gia decides to give me a big clean out so that she can actually see my back wall. Every morning Gia brings in a new water bottle and ends up putting it inside of me. Her highest record for most water bottles in one month is 19! Can you even believe that? I admit, I am a little skinny which makes it harder for binders to come out of me but if Gia kept me organized, it would be much easier! My owner tries to keep me tidy and clean but in the mix of running to classes, grabbing books, and being distracted by her friends, she can’t really keep up with it all. I try and help Gia as much as I can but I am just a locker. What more can I do? Gia seems like she doesn’t need me but she really does in order to achieve her middle school goals. As a person, Gia is great, but as a locker tender, she is a disgrace.
The coach assigned me to the only other person as shy as me, telling us to stay in constant communication to coordinate research for tournaments. After exchanging numbers, we never talked outside practice again. In rounds, we failed to communicate with each other, so our arguments collapsed. She quit after three months, but I had invested myself; I would not
