There is a certain mystery that lies within the meaning of angels. It is known that angels are among us. They are carriers of the messages from God (Gasparri 14). However, little is known about what and who angels are, why they are present, and even what they look like. They everything that human want to be and more (Stevenson 1). Angels go above and beyond the limitations of humans to give hints of what life is like in heaven or even hell.
What are Angels?
There are three creatures created by God. Humans, created with free will that can be used for good or can be used to cause hurt and destruction, are the first of these creatures. Second, come angels and devils. Angels are creatures of God with free will that chose to accept God’s love and goodness. Devils are the exact opposite of angels. They used their free will and chose to go against God. The last of the creatures are animals. (Gasparri 75-77)
Angels are divine beings chosen by God to deliver His love and goodness to humans. They are “entities'; of goodness and holiness (Stevenson 4). Angels are equipped with supernatural powers that allow them to rarely be seen by the human eye. Any scientific terms or proof cannot explain their existence. Those who believe in the existence angels are those who have already experienced their presence (Stevenson 5).
The Catholic Perspective on the Kinds of Angels
Catholics believe that angels have a special role of praying to God on behalf of humans. They are “messengers';, carrying hints or signs from God to his kingdom (Stevenson 195). Four angels are recognized in the Catholic Church. They are referred to as the archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel. There are many stories about the works of Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, however, little is known about Uriel. The Bible also recognizes a number of groups of angels with different functions and attributes called the hierarchy. Different faiths recognize the different groups. The groups include seraphim, cherubim, thrones, dominions, virtues, powers, the principalities, archangels, and angels (Stevenson 20). All together, the groups are known as the choir because they are said to praise God through song and music (Stevenson 21).
While the Bible does not recognize the functions of each of the groups, each group has its own unique character and purpose. Seraphim are the angels who are considered to be closest to God.
The Loss of Innocence- The title of the novel Fallen Angels immediately emphasizes the theme of youth and innocence. As Lieutenant Carroll explains in Chapter 4, all soldiers are “angel warriors,” because the soldiers are still young boys and still as innocent as angels. In calling the novel Fallen Angels, Myers implies that the soldiers’ youth and innocence are more important than any of their other aspects, such as their religion, ethnicity, class, or race. The novel is first and foremost a tale of the lost innocence of a squad of soldiers in the Vietnam War. Richie is only seventeen when he enters Vietnam, and Peewee and the other members of the squad are also teenagers—Peewee is unable even to grow a mustache. His three life goals, immaturely, are to drink wine from a corked bottle, to smoke a cigar, and to make love to a foreign woman. Richie and Lobel are both virgins, and they fantasize endlessly about their first sexual experiences. Though the soldiers enter the war as naïve youths, the war quickly changes them and forces them to develop into young men. Surrounded by death, they are forced to contemplate the fragility of their own lives and stripped of the carelessness and brazenness of youth. The unspeakable horrors around the boys force them to contemplate a world that does not conform to their childish and simplistic notions. Where they want to see only a separation between right and wrong, they instead find moral ambiguity. Where they want to see order and meaning, they find only chaos and senselessness. Where they want to find heroism, they find only the selfish instinct of self-preservation. These realizations destroy the boys’ innocence, prematurely thrusting them into manhood.
Thomas Hobbes believed that we would submit to bloodshed and chaos if we didn’t submit ourselves to a higher authority. Likewise, the Puritans believed that this would be true of we opposed god. Puritan Jonathan Edwards strongly held the beliefs of the Puritans that god was the main authority. In his work, Images or Shadows of Divine Things, Edwards writes about presence of god in nature. In addition, Edwards writes how hell and heaven are both present around us and stresses that we need to avoid the areas of hell. Edwards writes, “The heavens’ being filled with glorious, luminous bodies is to signify the glory and happiness of the heavenly inhabitants and amongst these the sun signifies Christ and the moon the church.” This quote by Edwards

In Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" an angel symbolizes the unfamiliar. The angel is not just a celestial body, but a foreign body-someone who stands out as being different from the rest of society. Consequently, the angel draws attention to civilized society's reaction, ergo the community's reaction within the story when it confronts him. Using the angel as a symbol, Marquez shows how ignorance reveals the vulnerability of human nature often leading to uncivilized behaviour.
...s world within the text of “A Very Old man with Enormous Wings.” What it means for people to care, explore, learn, promote, survive, and be curious about the fantastical world around them. These themes focusing on human nature become a whole lot more significant when you hold them up next to the angel. The humans did not care quite enough for the angel which can be clearly seen when noticing how they took advantage of him by exploiting him for the opportunity that arouse due to their desire for wealth. The family used him to satisfy their curiosity while also treating him like a common house pet. All of these factors are a testament to the many short comings of the human race even when they are graced with something that only a short period of time ago they could not have even imagined and that would have continued to have exists apart from their interference.

Believing in the Angels of God is the second article of faith in Islam. These angels are purely spiritual and glorious beings created by God. These angels are sinless. They require no food, drink or sleep. They have neither physical desires or material needs (“Islamic Path”). The angels spend their time in the amenity of God. Each angel is given a specific obligation. Each human being is assigned two angels who serve as guardians and recorders of the individual’s deeds, both good and bad (“Islamic Path”). Even though we cannot see the angels with ou...

"Such ethical possibility is, however, founded on and coextensive with the subject's movement toward what Foucault calls 'care of the self,' the often very fragile concern to provide the self with pleasure and nourishment in an environment that is perceived not particularly to offer them." -Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick
The relationship between God and his creations humans can be said to be a very complex relationship. Genesis shows us many examples of God's interaction with humans and human's interaction with each other. From the creation of Adam and Eve and all the events that follow afterwards, I shall show what the relationship tells us about the nature of God and mankind.
By far the most fascinating aspect of this great work by Milton is the way in which he pulls the angels out of time so as to give them a spiritual journey of a sort. The fact that one can now see Lucifer as a main character, unchained from the lack of time and place, who is now allowed to show an amount of character development that any story of this magnitude would inherently require. Angels have always been much of an enigma, and the fact that they cannot change from what they are after their initial decision - to either follow God or not – means they never seem human enough to understand. It is known from Genesis that some angels, with Lucifer at their lead, fell from heaven, but why?
With the lamp of knowledge, Archangel Uriel lights the way for all seekers of knowledge and wisdom; he is the keeper of all cosmic knowledge, both practical and Divine. As such, he helps us to raise our vibrational frequency and conscious awareness, acquire Divine knowledge, and cultivate spiritual awareness. Uriel also helps us to better understand our soul journey by helping us to recognize the cosmic interplay of cause and effect in both our present and past lives. This allows us to identify patterns of behavior, thought, and action that have contributed to our karmic cycles. With this recognition, we can release these patterns and forge a more positive avenue of progress.
It is thus that the angels will embark on their first manifestation on Earth in history. which will lead to all those cited by Milton, and the Fall of Man. Works Cited and Consulted The Bible. The Bible. The Bible Daiches, David.
