Neary 133 million newborns in the US are born with birth defects. Meanwhile, the rates are steadily increasing throughout the years. People should understand that the infant is the one left with all the pains after the mother has abused drugs while pregnant. Think about the outcome of your baby before satisfying your own desires. The same is true according to ¨National Institute on Drug Abuse¨ The site clearly states that the use of drug or tobacco could leave your baby with serious consequences. Why? The drugs passes through the placenta, which is meant to protect the fetus. Not only could your baby be born with birth defects, you also have high risk chances of having a stillbirth from smoking, or taking pain relievers (Volkow). Birth defects isn't the only that could affect your baby, you could lose the child just from smoking or taking drugs. For more information go to. According to WebMd it says that caffeine is illegal whereas the others states caffeine can´t be harmful to the baby. They also claimed that caffeine is toxic and pregnant woman should not drink it. Sodas is listed as well which can not affect your baby. WebMd stated that when mothers do drugs the babies are commonly known as ¨Crack Babies¨ and ¨Drug Babies¨ which is not true. No other website calls babies those names except WebMd. Any additional information can be found at. The same is true of Wikipedia any kind of drugs you take could affect your baby. Pharmaceutical and Recreational drugs, Wikipedia also says that some over the counter drugs are made for pregnant women which is true. There is also a very crucial stage throughout the pregnancy which can majorly affect the baby if anything wrong is done. The slightest thing you take while pregnant could hurt your baby, watch what you take before thinking about what satisfies you. Many babies die every year
